| I'm gonna go down and check out Bolivar/Crystal Beach on Friday. But, BTFH, you could camp anywhere on the beach you wanted to put up a tent. Some places where better than others, read "family" type areas. If you stayed closer to the Pocket and Rettilon road you were generally okay. If you stayed closer to the "Zoo" area, you get the idea......... Like I said tho, this was all BTFH. I do know that the beach has enlarged over what it used to be.....as our lots are almost ocean front property, and we were two streets back from the surf. On the other hand, I don't know if I'll be able to actually stay there overnight......every time I go it brings back memories.....its a tuff drive down there for me. 36 years is a long time... | |

i've been trying to get the family down to the beach ever since we moved back here. my girls have never been, so i'd like some time for them to play.
would ya'll camp @ crystal?
Todd, feel better. looks like we may need a tour guide.

I'm with you Jennie! We always have to drive so far to any event and it is getting aggravating. Granted that all the good wheeling is no where around us but there are beaches. I always have fun wherever we go but the distance we have to go to get there is a big drag!

| Well Cristal beach or PINS sounds good to me. Mustang island is the closest I've been to PINS or I guess Corpus Christi Beach. My wife and I went to cristal and galveston for our honey moon before the storm, and we would'nt mind going back to see what happen. Both are pretty far from Waco so it really dosen't matter to me. All of the guys in the Waco Chapter would like to go on a beach trip, some dont care where we go just aslong as it a nice beach and some have said the would like to go to Padre island. Cristal beach the last time I went had pretty clear water which is hard to find in Texas. It did have alot of open beach with out hotels taking up all the good areas, Plus I'm sure since the storm, its even more wide open. Of coarse for the people that don't live in Houston, if we stay in a hotel it might have to be in Galveston. (which has its up's and down's) | |

We could do a bolivar trip.... well what's left of it anyway.. I'm going down on Friday to check out the lots and the surf. I'll go east of High Island also to check out the beach towards McFaddin NWR. I'm sure most of the beach is gone, but have to see it for myself. Still might be able to drive to Port Arthur. It would be a shame if the clay bottom is gone from the surf there, it was some of the best redfishing in the state.
