Hello all,
I am in the market for another Jeep TJ. Prefer 99 to 2001. Also prefer a maroon one if I can find it.
If you know of one please let me know.

Also, I check craigslist several times a day so no need to point on out on there.

Any guidance? What's your budget, for instance? What are you looking for, a stocker or something that might already be built? Standard or automatic?

FWIW I bought mine last April, a 2006 X with some factory options and 22k miles for $12.7k.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably do something more like this '06 LJ Rubicon for two reasons: 1) LJ and 2) Rubicon. And the 6-speed is great. Basically you can take it as is (2" BB and 33's) and drive it daily or take it through most trails without a problem. The LJ means a nearly perfect 100" wheelbase and more space in the back. The Rubicon means 44's front and rear, 4:1 Rock-Trac NV241 transfer case with fixed yoke, and selectable air lockers front and rear (limited slip when lockers disabled).

The LJ Rubi is pretty much the perfect Jeep, IMHO, where everything came together to achieve greatness. I didn't know all that when I bought mine. I probably would've ended up bobbing the back anyway to end up with basically a stretched TJ without all the work

OK, so then would it be fair to say you'd take a newer model if it were priced under $7000, then? I don't understand limiting model years rather than limiting budget.

You could always try talking to the owner of this Chili Pepper Red '97 that looks very clean. Asking way too much money, though, IMHO. It's extremely unlikely to sell at that price.

Yea, i found my 98 chili pepper for $5200 with 92,000 miles on it and in very good shape. Had to drive to Austin to get it, but the deals are out there if you look for them.

Well,I'm hoping to buy one before next weekend for the TOPLESS event.

Aside from CL and AutoTrader and The Jeep Trader, I don't know what to tell you.

Probably flexible on the price, I imagine, but who knows? Says it's been wrecked, so I'd check for salvage title before even talking about anything else. Nothing wrong with salvage title if it's a trail rig, of course, but not something I'd deal with for a daily driver. And not even close for that money.

I could not find any stock TJ's on either of those sites.
