PostSubject: Prepping for that Tax Rebate... Lift Options...   Prepping for that Tax Rebate... Lift Options... Icon_minitimeMon 14 Apr 2008, 10:52 am

In my original round of research, my plan was to go with the 2.5" Teraflex BB with 33x.12.50 on a 16x10 rim. But... after seeing Duke's 37s on the stock rims yesterday... my thinking has changed a bit.

Now my mind is on 35s on the stock rim, and I'm thinking of other lift options as well.

The Old Man Emu 2" lift with HD coils seems nice from what I've read (and give closer to 3-3.5" of lift), but looks like it will require a bit more than what is included in the kit.

So... first question.

If I went with the BB, would there be any significant rubbing issues with 35s?

With either the BB or the OME, what other purchases would I need to do it right? Trackbar?

Would I need to regear from my 4.10s?

Would I need to reflash my speedo and odometer? Does anyone locally have the Accupro or Hypertech programmers?

Thanks for helping me spend my money Smile

First of all, with 35 i think the only rub issues would be only at full flex with BB. Plus getting wheels with a little more back spacing would also help. Second the reprogramers work for one jeep at a time. Thats the way they are made so the comp can make some money. I 've looked into this thats how I know, I was trying to do the same thing. I have a 2dr and 3.21 and at first yea it was a little slower off the start, but when i installed my AFE intake it brought it back, to almost stock. I also have a mannual so I hear you can get away with a little bit. I hope this helps you, but it's just my observations.

you will have rubbing with stock rims and 35s. specifcally the rear upper control arms. you will need to wheel spacers. (i ran my 35's on stock rims and have been through it) I also had a 2.5 BB too. call me and I can get you more details

you'll also have significant rubbing in the front. the airdam will get rubbed. then you remove it and still get rubbing. after looking under the front end, you notice it rubs on the swaybar when turning. on the trail, it rubs much worse on the swaybar.

like jon said, you'll need spacers for sure with stock rims. i've got some that i was gonna post in the for sale section, but havent had a chance.

Scott right? I'm Cody Davis.

If you want to lift your jeep any higher than 2.5 inches you will need to consider replacing front and rear driveshafts since you have a 2 door. The problem in the rear is that the angle will be too great and cause vibrations. The front will possibly hit tcase/trans at full droop when you are offroading and then bye bye front shaft. If you just want to put 35" tires (800 bux or so) then I would suggest the Teraflex 2.5" BB w/ shocks (400 bux), wheel spacers and you should be good to go. I think that kit comes with a trackbar relocator bracket which is okay, but an adjustable track bar is best (200 bux)

Trust me when I say that getting a 3 inch kit or bigger would be awesome, but this makes you have to consider changing driveshafts which can cost you some big bux. Like 370 a each. If you have anyother questions let me know. There are a lot more guys on this forum that know a lot more than me. Hope this helps you with your decision. Good luck!!!

Everyone has brought up great points. I might suggest a kit with a bit more bang. You should think about one with adjustable upper and lower control arms as well as adjustable front/rear track bars. all these will help you with your caster/pinion angles. you may still want to go with drive shafts too. It just depends on what you want to spend initially. But most of us have spent money and wished we upgraded to begin with as it always seems that we end up upgrading in the end.BB`s are great, but just about everyone I know is now looking to go bigger lift/tires etc. Some kits are easily upgradable, some aren`t. I know everybody is probably tired of me talikng about my Rock Krawler kit, but I researched most of the kits on the market, and decided on that one becuase it gave me the most bang for my buck. If I want to go from my 3.5" to their 5.5", it`s doable. They have a great kit for 2 doors. Full Traction , Rubicon Express I think have nice kits as well. Gather as much info as you can, do your homework and you will have the Jeep of your dreams! Good luck man.

Yes adam makes an excellent point. I have the 2.5" BB from tereflex and dont get me wrong it is very nice, but I want to get the Rock Krawler 3.5" x-factor mid arm which is what adam has now. And the funny thing is I heard him talking about upgrading to the 5.5"....HAHA we are never satisfied..always going bigger and better

Everyone has basicly said what needs to be said. The few points I have is:
1. Don't go with Skyjacker, all I have had is problem with the kit
2. Figure out how much you want to spend BEFORE deciding how big you want to go

Hope this helps

and by the way, :flamed: I believe CRUX may have exactly what you need. I hear he is looking to do a 5.5 and thus he would have his 3.5 that he may want to sell...hint hint, nod nod, wink wink..

personally, i like my skyjacker 2.5" spring lift MUCH better than the 1.75" procomp BB i had in there. BTW anyone looking for a BB, i'll be posting it in the for sale section.

If you would be looking to sell, I'd definitely be interested Adam.

If I do Scott, I`d upgrade. You would be better off just buying the kit as I would only need shocks, springs. Hopefully not control arms as well since that hardly seems like an "upgrade" to me.
