| So yes that is the question, for those that have experience with either.
Any advice would be helpful.
The trailer would be approx 1000lbs, the RTT would of course be on top with the use of a rack. So I guess it comes down to extra drag from mounting to the top vs extra pull from the back.
I just keep finding myself going back and forth between the 2!

| Not sure about MPG regarding the aerodynamics but, I will say that If it was me that had the 2 door, I would probly opt for the trailer. RRT are sweet, but if you're leaving it on permamnently, thats wasted MPG's and a higher center of gravity for the 2 door. Of course 1000lbs is a lot for a 2 door as well, but at least it's removable. My trailer fully loaded weighs about 1000lbs, and I almost don't feel it being towed. But thats the nice thing about the longer wheelbase. And with the trailer, most can be kept fully funished or close to it, whereas the RRT has no extra room and all your gear has to ride in the jeep. | I would prefer the trailer. Easier to disconnect/remove. More versatile, can be used with any vehicle and for different things.
Drag and pull will both affect MPG and driving. Trailer will probably affect braking more too.

| Not to mention most times you're probly gonna use it here in Texas would require you to maybe even remove it for the trails. I know several of us have ripped our tops etc. Another 12-18 inches on the trail would be bad. | |

OK, but curious as to know how much your mpg drop when towing the trailer?

| I've taken it on two trips with the JK. To the coast I dropped from about 17 MPG to about 15.5, but we had a serious headwind. Towing it to Longs I actaully didn't see any change. | |

| The trailer would be my choice! Think about when we are going on a trip...do you really wanna wheel with that roof thing attached? Do you really feel like up packing it? But this is what I'm gonna get. well something like this G can build one for under 4000.00 | |
