Tire Pressure Gauge Empty
PostSubject: Tire Pressure Gauge   Tire Pressure Gauge Icon_minitimeTue 12 Feb 2008, 3:15 am

Just a bit of FYI- pick up a decent tire pressure gauge. I`ve always carried one in my vehicles, and recently put it to good use. After being on the sand in Corpus, We stopped at a gas station to air back up. I know not to trust the pressure gauge on those station units, but loned my gauge to Renee10 who was across the intersection at the other station. All was fine- each tire read about 40 PSI until I got to the last one. I guess the compressor was a little tired cuz it didn`t move past 35PSI. So, I kept putting air in not knowing. Kinda hard to get a good seal on it & figured there was only about half the air going in. After a time and $1.50 later, I thought it was odd that this was taking longer than the others. About that time, Renee & Bobby drove in, and I got my gauge & checked. My gauge maxed out at 65 psi. I don`t know how much pressure was in there, but it wasn`t good! I took a while just to get it back to 65psi!!! Apparently the little gauge that was half taped together was corroded and stuck. With that and the motor being over worked, I guess the gauge just locked up. It`s a good thing I had enough sense to quit. Imagine if someone who wasn`t used to checking these kinds of things just relied on that one measure. So as I said, it`s cheap insurance-$5 bucks & no blow outs! I use my gauge to fine tune my PSI because if all 4 tires aren`t exactly the same pressure, you`ll have ESP issues.
