Hey I just registered and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Mark and I own a 2008 Rubicon (Rescue Green). I currently live in Virginia. So why am I registering on this board? There is a very high likely hood I will be moving to the area sometime this summer and I’m looking to meet up with some locals.
Although I do own a new Jeep and keep it mostly nice and shiny I also like to wheel the crap out of it every chance I get. This is my first Jeep (not counting the wife’s WJ) so I am fairly new to wheelin’.
I’ve checked around on some other San Antonio forums and this one seems to be the most active/friendly so I figured I’d give it a try.

| Hello Mark, Welcome to the forum. I was new to Jeeps and offroading until last year, so you are not the only one. For most of us, our Jeepsare our daily drivers, so we have to make sure we take care of them. We do get out on trips on a regular basis, and look forward to wheeling with you this summer. take care, Dutch | |

| Welcome and like most people have said before me most of us, our rigs are our daily drivers. But don't get us wrong, some of us don't treat them to nicely | |

| Welcome to our playground. We are more like an extended family.... but the one's you actually want to hang out with. Just ask uup4it. the first time we met her in person, we fully transformed her jeep from stock to lean mean wheeling machine. | |

| Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm really looking forward to relocating. How far do you have to drive to find some decent trails?

| Any where from 30 min to all day. You can only wheel on private land here.
Where in VA? | |

| I'm in Newport News. The club I belong to either goes up to the Blue Ridge mountains or down to the beach in North Carolina. Either way both are about 3 hours away. | |

| I Was stationed there (Ft Eustis) a couple times. Got a lot of friends there.
There is stuff closer here but not as wide open as the mountains.

| I don't live too far from there (Kiln Creek). I retired from the Air Force back in 2002 and now I work for them as a GS at Langley. The job in San Antonio is the same as I do here it's just for a different command (AETC vs ACC). It also means I won't have to worry about PCSing anymore.
Is there a lot of good camping in the places you go to? Primitive camping is just fine by me. In fact, I prefer it.

| I have only been to one place and it had primitive camping.
From what I have heard they have at least primitive camping. Some have RV hookups.
My house is on the market if you are looking. Divorce sale :slapfight: Lot of people in the neighborhood work at Kelly.
I am retired Army retired out of CA and migrated here

| Sorry to hear about the divorce. Although, being military, it is unfortunately a fact of life. I have one under my belt from about 17 years ago. I'll actually be working at Randolph and have a good friend living in Cibolo. We're looking at some of the new homes they are building in that area. Hopefully I will be down there in March on a house hunting trip. | |
