| I checked out the geocache website and saw that there was one 1/2 mile from our house. So this afternoon me, Shannon and Heather took off to find it. After 20 minutes of tromping around in the woods (and Shannon getting a nasty scratch on her leg from some thorns) we gave up and went to lunch.
We gave up- yup... But we had had a lot of fun trying to find it. So after lunch we decided to try another one. Went to the website and found another one close by and punched it into the GPS. When we got to the location, it took us about 5 minutes to find it- YAY! Success! Heather was thrilled and wanted to go back to the first one. So we ran back to the first location and started searching again. 20 minutes later, Shannon was the proud discoverer of the elusive cache.
Pretty fun... Heather immediately started bugging me to look up some more.

| GeoCaching is SO much fun...!!! Joanny and I go out on our bikes a look for them. I put a GPS on my bike and we use it to navigate in...then we walk into the woods to find it...we've gone on 2 hunts and found 1 intact. It was cool - it had a camera in it for you to take your own pic and a notebook for you to sign in...as well as silly toys and trail snacks! Ours was in the neck of a hollow tree in an airtight container. It's real fun for an afternoon outside and nows the time to do it! They're everywhere! Here's my GPS bike! | |

| Both of the ones we found were intact... And both even contained geo-coins. One coin was from Wyoming. The other originated in Alabama, and had a log with it showing all the states it had traveled to. It had about 13 states, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas.
Shannon left a "Make Love Not War" button in the first cache (we didn't take anything- it had about 10 trinkets in there already but nothing we really cared to take). The 2nd one had the coin, some mardi gras beads, a small stuff animal, and a couple Happy Meal toys.

| I enjoyed the hiding of caches as opposed to the finds after a while. I don't cache anymore really. But it was great fun for a while! Interestingly enough, I discovered Geocaching back in '04 by reading about it in a JEEP mag . Glad you found Geocaching! It's great fun for the family.

| We had fun looking for them. Heather had alot of fun. She has discovered from off-roading that she loves being out in the woods. So I guess she has some country girl deep inside her. Hunter could care less. He is all about skate-boarding and video games. | |

(Steve posting on shannon's account because we only brought her laptop with us)... Be sure to check the logs of those caches before you head out. By reading the logs I found out that only 2 out of 6 near us was still there. I suspect the Hurricane moved some of the caches around.

That's true...I went to look for one that was behind the house...so close but when I got there - it was all new houses - so it got wiped out! Ahh, it was fun anyway! Geo - Garmin is a good handheld GPS...full color etc. Finding caches is cool! Back in NY, I found one in an old ammunition box - have to admit, I was tempted for "1" sec to walk away with the box - but I didn't!

| yup I can't wait till I get my GPS! I want to hide one but I can not seem to find a weather proof box big enough to stuff Geo in.
Looks like we may need to add an hour or two to our trip to trees so we can do some caching on our way there...hehehehehe
