After reading Ron's post in the wounded wheelers Jeep, it made me think of something

you know we can do our own wheeler for the wounded type thing....you know every time I've been to the VA there are tons of people there visiting, also tons of people donate care packages to our troops, but what about doing something for the kids who's fathers are over seas, those kids and the wives are at home alone, worried, scared etc...I know from personal experience how hard it is when fathers are away over seas.....kids need that since of family even more so when a parent is away...and it's hard for the other parent to give them that.

My nephew along with 10,000 other men and women from Fort Hood deployed yesterday I know I could prob get in touch with some of the families and we can do a run ...take some of the kids for rides etc....

what do you guys think?

Sounds great. Just a liability issue, but I'm game.

well we can try to work that out...I am sure we can come up with a waiver of some sort, and most parks have a wavier as well. Maybe we can do it as an invite where the wives and kids who want to go can meet us at a park...we need to find a place near Fort Hood maybe BVORR

I can make a few calls and see what I can come up with

I'm game for anything that supports our troops and their families. Fortunately I didn't have a wife/kids when I was over there - I know my parents worried - at least I only spent 8 months in the sand, not like our guys making two, three, four tours over there. It sucked major ass in so many ways - don't get me wrong the war part was kinda cool in a sick kind of way - but the first one only lasted 100 hours (the ground war) and we didn't have to go door to door and be sitting ducks for cowards in VBIEDs and or IEDs. Our troops and their famalies have got to be war weary..... anything that we can do to help is a worthwhile use of our time.

My son is a Marine and has done the Iraq thing already. I can see if he has any suggestions, I think everything you guys have said is good. Whatever we can do will help our troops.

What if we invited them to our summer run to the beach? Its warm, we can camp, kids love the water....?
