| Subject: Visine in a drink isnt funny.... Sun 15 Feb 2009, 2:39 pm | |
| Last night at about 1045 I was sitting in my easy chair watching SNL (which sucks now BTW) when I got a call from a good friend's wife. She said that there was something wrong with her hubby - they had been at a wedding reception and he had been drinking - enough to not want to drive but nothing out of the norm for a party etc... he was fine as they were leaving and people remember him saying goodbye etc....
On the way home he started acting funny - he was incoherent and the things he was saying made no sense at all. When they got home he fell out of the truck and started to crawl around. Totally oblivious to his wife and two kids who had been to the reception with him. He made his way into the house where he threw up all over the floor in the bedroom and kitchen. All while crawling around. He would crawl a few feet and fall forward smashing his head on the tile. He would wake up and look around like he had no idea where he was at and then fall forward again.
She called me asking what to do - I went over and found him in the kitchen on the floor. He was delirious, cold and did not recognize me, know where he was at and was basically babbling. I have known the guy for about 10 years and have seen him drunk, real drunk, a couple of times but never like this.... I thought that someone had put something in his drink or he drank someones drink with something in it.... GHB, Ketamine etc... - either way he wasn't himself anymore.
We loaded his big muscle bound ass in the truck and went to the ER. I was worried that he may have gotten too much of something and it might effect his respiratory system or blood pressure etc..... The doc at the ER said that the way he was acting was consistent with Visine poisoning.... he was released from the hosp at about 5 this morning. Still 100% oblivious to what was going on.
I have heard of someone using Visine and remember it mentioned in the movie Wedding Crashers. I have taken reports, after the fact, when someone was drugged and sexually assaulted after going to a club or party etc.... This was the first time that I was able to witness, first hand, how someone acts when something like that happens to them. I was scared for the guy - all of this happened in front of his wife and two kids and they were pretty messed up over the whole thing - as expected.
Bottom line is that there are some terrible folks out there who may think that this stuff is funny, it is actually criminal. We will find out this morning if anyone else was effected.
Protect yourself.... if this guy wasn't with his family he would have ended up hurt real bad, in jail or worse....

| Ron, did the ER doc say how much was required to get that reaction?
Just a couple drops or a full bottle or two? If I see someone walking around a party now with Visine bottles, they better have red eyes like a mf'er, or they are getting their ass kicked.

| It only takes a couple of drops.... People will put stuff other than visine in visine bottles (GHB, Acid etc...) it is easily hidden and you can easily squirt some in a drink when someone is not looking. It is colorless, odorless and for the most part tasteless. If I saw someone with it I would confront them... basically because I don't give a sh!t... - redneckhouston wrote:

It would be nice if you could choose what, when and where.... and if I HAD to choose then I would go with acid too... He slept until about 530p and is now good to go - still tired and his head hurts from repeatedly hitting it on the tile floor. He remembers nothing about leaving the party, going to the Hosp or anything. He woke up and asked where the knots on his head came from... Visine Prank
A common urban legend is that a few drops of Visine in an unsuspecting victim's drink will cause a harmless bout of diarrhea. This will not produce diarrhea, but oral administration of Visine can induce dangerous side effects related to Visine's ingredient tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride such as:
* Dangerously low body temperature (hypothermia) * Blurred vision * Nausea and vomiting * Difficulty in breathing or even a complete halt in breathing * Elevating (hypertension) then dropping (hypotension) blood pressure * Possible coma * Seizures and tremors
Pfizer recommends that anyone ingesting Visine get medical attention or contact a poison control center immediately.

| I talked to him today and there are at least two more folks who were effected.... one lost $200 and another lost his wallet.
I am still not convinced that it was visine. That is what the er doc said. He acted like he got some acid or shroom..... I have seen folks on just about every drug out there and it seemed like he was "checked out" - totally not himself....
wierd.... I sure am glad that he didnt wind up in jail or dead somewhere from a car wreck..

Same thing I was thinking.... the bad thing is that it was at a VFW hall (the one on Main St. north of 10 in Baytown) I realize that it was rented out.... There was about 100 or so people there and he said that he might have known about a quarter of them. It was his wife's nephew or niece... something like that. Either way it was F'ed up. He is good now - a few lumps but not rolled, jailed or dead....
