Not a Jeep mod.... it is IN the jeep though

Stuck at home and didn't really want to be inside with all the sickies so I decided to spray my .45 with Duracoat

Started with a brushed stainless .45. Broke it down and taped off what I didn't want coated.



Gave it a coating and then hung it to dry for a bit....


Moved it to the oven to bake for a little while (got into a little trouble with MrsRG for this one:



Going to let it set for several days. I will be at TAMU next week and will let everything sit until Friday and see how it turns out.

We also did my cousin's Rem 700 with hopes that it would end up like this:


Started with this:


Base coat of matte black:


added digital camo stencils:


and then sprayed it with some grey:


Sitting to dry for the night... we will add more digital stencils along with a little bit of white tomorrow....

Lookin' great! Gotta do my custom knives with some DC. How well does it airbrush? I have my airbrush I use for fine artwork, & don't wanna ruin it.

It airbrushes great - my first time to fool with it (both the DC and AB). I was going to buy one of the HVLP spray rigs to hook to my air compressor but my cousin said that an airbrush would be better for fine detail work. It cleans up real nice. But you have to clean it just as soon as you finish. Once it dries its on there. All of my weapons are Teflon coated so this is my first run with the DC. I will put it through the ringer and let you know.

Awesome. Well I guess I'm ordering some from ebay. I have a knife show i'm hoping to be in, & want to coat some of my blades. I was toying with the idea to do some skulls on my AR as well.

nice work. can't wait to see the finished products.

btw, is that a defender? look real compact.

I remember a group of former active duty S.E.A.L.s who made knives and they coated them using a tiger stripe pattern. I cannot remember who they were but they were out of Fla. The knives looked tough.

if you want some skulls to stick on/paint then take off let me know and I will have some made on the sticker machine...

yes'sir.... its a defender.

Finished up the 700 today.... I am not 100% happy with it. The should have been more stencils after the base coat (black) I think that it turned out a little too gray. Cuz loves it so I guess that is what counts.

Yeah, could have used a little more stencils, but it still looks kick ass!!

Ya I like black but he is from AK so I guess he is in to gray.....

Looks slick! Did you use the matte clearcoat?

The clearcoat (matte) should be here Tuesday.... I am going to let everything sit until I get back from a run to TAMU on Friday. I think that the clear will help with the durability.

oh hell no.... not the digital anyway. I do plan on duracoating the winch, a scuff on the front bumper and a few other things... Also going to make a custom mount for my generator that will fit where the shrock jerry can is mounted... will duracoat that as well.

I talked him in to adding some more black and breaking up the pattern a bit. Not sure when we are going to get to it. He is headed out on the scooter to Dayfuckingtona tomorrow.... I hate that I am gonna miss that run this year. Bike week in Daytona kicks butt!!!

I finally took a pic of my 90. I just finished coating it with matte black Duracoat. I like it but don't like how shiny it ended up. I used the matte clearcoat as well. Overall it is cool but I wanted it to be flatter. Looking at their website I now see that they have a "flattening" agent that you can add to the mix. Might have to put one more coat on.

I finally got around to getting some "flattener" for the duracoat so I can get that damn shiney off of it. I like it MUCH better now:

is that like powder coating?

how scratch resistant?
