| Since I have have 2 vehicles stolen in the past I am now thinking about security. What do you guys recommend? Of course I plan to get a set of locking lug nuts once my new wheels arrive. I was also looking at this anti-theft device but I called and they said it didn't work for JKs. http://www.northridge4x4.com/products.php?cat=271 So I guess a standard alarm of some type. | |

| I have used fuel pump cutoffs before and it is hard to drive vehicle away with no fuel. I have also used ignition cutoffs before with the same result. It is cheap (wires, relay ,toggle switch) less than 20 bucks. Just hide your switch really well and no more stolen vehicle. | |

| I am going with the whole works on Monday.... 2 way remote start/pager, radar perimeter alarm, tilt sensor and starter kill. Plus it has the option for cell phone monitoring with everything from where the vehicle is to what speed etc... you can also track it and shut it off from your cell on your command.... might add that later. http://www.autopageusa.com/t_home.cfmMy favorite part.... you can set it to "silent" where it will just alert you that someone is jackin' with your sh!t..... then you can roll up on em' Joe Horn style | |

My favorite part.... you can set it to "silent" where it will just alert you that someone is jackin' with your sh!t..... then you can roll up on em' Joe Horn style hey ron, make sure the installer heat shrinks ALL connections and routes them with an eye towards off road use, i would ask to have the connections soldered and heat shrinked if they wont charge to much. most alarm/stereo guys have no idea about what happens to a vehicle when used hard off road. on more than one occasion i have spent several hours tracing shorted/damaged alarm wiring to bypass it so the vehicle would start and continue down the trail also see if they will provide you with a complete wiring diagram and/or a wiring diagram of how to COMPLETELY bypass their system should it fail in an off-highway situation.......if they will keep it, along with their card/# in your trail tool kit

I did. The Glock 27 is the CCW, the P226 is the primary.

| Thanks for the note Geo - I mentioned it but will make sure that the connections are soldered and heat shrinked. It will be a deal killer if they don't. Even if it costs a little more. Good idea about the diagram too. Might laminate it and throw it in the back cubby hole.
Hey Drone - any more tips?

| Ron, Personally, I would not go with such a system, they are very complex and prone to a number of issues, from radio interference to system meltdown from poor components. No matter how good of a job they do on the install, the system is only as good as the weakest part in it - whether it be a little resister, or the micro-controller they use as a "brains". As Geo pointed out -- these are NOT designed with off-road abuse in mind, they are not designed to get fully dunked in water, or to operate properly should you accidentally short it out trying to fix a problem with your lights, for example. Also, if there is a way to subvert the system, rest assured that the car thiefs already know it. I'd suggest just using a proper Revelco kill switch (way better than anything else out there -- http://www.ravelco.com/index.htm), and a set of hood locks. The only option around one of these is to have a proper key (it's not a toggle switch, it's a keyed metal disc with pins), or to completely gut and re-wire the ignition system. Time is the number one factor in preventing theft, the longer it takes, the less likely they are to succeed before giving up and moving on. !c
