Am I Crazy

I'm going to pull the trigger on buying 1000 shares of GM stock today. It closed yesterday at $1.86. I know the government will not let them go under, and possibly make them file for chapter 11 bankruptcy beofre geeting any more handouts which would be the best option for the company. I know the economy is in the shitter, and many people won't be buying vehicles any time soon, but in 2-3 years it may be worth something again....

Maybe I just threw $2000 away on a gamble that could have been spent on Jeep mods

I'm not in the stock market, but have thought long about doing it now with the prices so low...I just haven't gotten up the nerve


Besides if/when things do turn around you'll have even more $$$ for mods if ya cash out

Wish I had the nerve to do it. I have spare cash to do so, but with things the way they are right now I'm trying to get rid of my debt while simultaneously building up a cushion.

Not crazy. The market needs more of that. Everyone (including me) is sitting on the sideline and not spending or investing.

The ones willing to take the risk now will reap the benefits later.

I bought some GE and am putting some $$ in mutual funds now but nothing crazy. We will probably never see a buying opportunity like this again.

Just be ready to ride the roller coaster and don't panic.

not crazy - i spent $2000 on wheels and tires instead of investing in sirius at 50 cents. it went to $4.00

I have been buying ExxonMobil stock for the past 10+ years (bout $500 a month) and it has done very well for me. I have lost some value in the past year and recently but it rebounds every time. I sell a thousand shares when it hits $95 and then buy back when it hits $75 it has cycled at least two times every year and split once since I started buying. It is well worth it. If it keeps going like this I will be able to retire at ~55 and live on the interest alone.

XOM stock is kind of a sure thing - but a gamble on GM would probably pay off big in a few years. GM isn't going anywhere soon.
