We had a little damage from our friend IKE and our insurance gave us A LITTLE money to fix it. So I learned a very important lesson about contractors, after ours walked on us with half of our very little money. We are pursuing legal action but there is little chance on getting my money back. It’s a long story, and a very expensive one.
Either way I still needed a roof. I called a really good friend that drove in from Huntsville and another really good friend that realized his efforts would be better spent picking up Luis for us. Luis was a machine! (that's him picutured below) Anyway 64 bundles and two days of work later, and I have a new roof!! just the three of us and my wife loaded damn near all the trash onto the trailer. That helped out tremendously! I couldn’t have done it without any of them. Thanks to George also, that harbor freight roofing nailer was the best $100 I’ve ever spent (next to the money Luis got). Well the second nailer was, the first died on us about two coils in. So two days, 3 guys and one girl and 64 bundles of singles and one beautiful new roof.
We ran out of caulk so I have a few places to touch up and I still need to do the porch roof. that one will be an overlay…just as soon as I start getting letters from the HOA.
Please don’t try this at home.
