| Wow, Joe, great pics and vid! I grabbed the one of us climbing out of the water. It was great to tag along! I had a crazy wobble on the way home: turns out something out there bumped my toe-in to almost 2 inches and my steering wheel 45 degrees off center! didn't take long to set it straight, but it has me looking at beefier tie rods, drag links, and steering stabilizers! a little more just empty every pocket! We are psyched to get up there again this weekend for Wheelers for the Wounded! Hope to ride with you again soon. | |

| Hey Chris, I had a blast myself. Hope all is OK with the JK for this weekend. I guess running 35's does put a little more stress on the suspension. Make sure you put your floor plugs in and take some pics / vids for us to see. Have fun, Joe | |

Hey ccoppola, where did you get your light set-up? It's exactly what I have been looking for to attach to my roof rack. Mark

| Glad you liked the lightbar: I made it! I was looking for something like the delta light bar: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12010_601.htm that didn't cost nearly $800 !!! So I bought this bar from Northern Tool: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200049774_200049774 and fabbed up a bracket that bolts to the windshield brace with some flat and angle steel from Lowes. It all cost <$200 but took a while to get the funky angles of the JK windshield, the holes for the bolts, and the height to be out of the way of the hardtop/bikini top (and my garage door, which I already hit once.) The welds came out well, and with the diagonal brace it doesn't shimmy too too much on the hwy or the trail. Keep in mind that it uses the windshield brace as an attachment point: if you have a rack, this is already in use! but if you have a rack, you already have a great attachment point for the light bar. it is a little taller than the delta bar, but it is $600 less. Good luck and let me know if you have q's. CC | |

| i know this is a moot point, but i thought detonator yellow first came out in the 2008 model JKs just wondering . I've got the det yellow unlimted X myself. I too like that light bar. Also, what's with those fenders? is it like hip hop guys or gangs with windsuits having one pant leg up above their calf and the other all the way down ? | |

Best advice, keep your doors on and your plugs in your floorboards!!!
This is some damn good advice, especially if they have had any rain in the recent past, it was muddy as hell and real wet... I had my doors off and most of the plugs on the passenger side and back out. I remembered this post as I watched the water level go over the sliders and creep up to the door... luckily it didn't get in the jeep cause that was some nasty stuff! The water line was half way up the rear bumper. We found a way around the entrance which would have been in water halfway up the door.. it is a drop off with a small pool but it is deep... not worth the trouble. I was lucky enough to watch someone else first, otherwise I would have been knee deep in muddy water - that plus Lil' G's sammich would have gotten wet... Good times! there was another trail called Midnight Run which was a challenge (rated a 4 but more like a 3 - a stock X with rubi tires made it though and only got winched once) it was like Wet & Wild without all the wet...

Those are child safety doors for the rear to keep the little ones and their toys from falling out :seestars: of the Jeep when the doors are off.

| I have to explain some of my "ghetto" mods here (they look ghetto, but they cost ghetto!): As Joe said, the plywood is a set of rear half doors I made: $48 worth of plywood, aluminum pipe, screws and fittings, and a pin latch for the door: (beats the $600 for half doors) And for prison-style one fender up, one fender down: In that pic, I got caught halfway beween cutting down the front fenders with a sabre saw. (Cost: $0 + two afternoons) (beats the $$$ for Xenons) As for detonator yellow: I got my '07 JK unlimited X in August: the year was just running out, and yellow came out in the latter run. There are a few differences I notice being late in the run: I don't have the "orphaned" plug under the dashboard for a convenience light. My fender doesn't have the cut-outs for the fog lights or the hooks, and I have the D44 rear and D30 front with 4.10's (though this may be due to the fact that it is automatic, which made the axles match the tow package.) Now to get this thread back on track: it was a great SAT at Hidden Falls for Wheelers for the Wounded!!! I skipped SUN because I broke my front axle shaft driver-side U-joint. I pulled the short shaft and stuffed a rag in the axle tube and was able to get home in rear wheel drive, but I didn't have 4wd to get back on the trails. Been buying tools today and will post my repair. This time, wet and wild was even higher!!! water cam up to the edge of the seats without going over, didn't suck any water into the air filter and kept going. However, we did see a 3-4 foot water moccasin!! That was pretty frightening since I had to pop a passener front tire back on bead while standing in 2 feet water a little further down the trail!! Not to completely get this thread off track: | |

I saw your rig but couldn't find you around it to say hello. Nice looking rig, didn't remember seeing the plywood half doors though.

| Thanks RG and Joe! Since the JK is my daily driver, I will usually limp home after breaking once: figuring that I just learned what the current weakest link is. As long as I can get the U-joint at 4wheelparts tomorrow I'll be fixing it tomorrow night. As I was telling Joe, I have a 8 inch C-clamp that looks like it will be able to compress the endcaps. It's my first one so I'll find out soon enough. Take care, C | |
