House!

After 8 months of saving (and spending away savings, and re-saving, and yadda), a few months of surfing har, many hours talking to a mortgage agent, lots of studying, finding what neighborhoods I liked, two weekends of crawling through mostly crappy houses, and finally four gut wrenching days of negotiating back and forth...

I have a house under contract! (And a pre-approved loan =)

It was one I saw come on the market briefly weeks ago, go under contract, and then disappear. My luck would have it, that deal fell through, and I was the first to get to view it when it opened back up. I was freaking a bit as I fell in love with it, and watched the next couple of viewers lining up outside while I was looking... Sascha - it's a neighborhood called 'Idylwood', basically a little pocket neighborhood inside the loop (5 mins from downtown) where pretty much all of the houses are an English cottage design. Very safe, very quiet, lots of greenspaces, and word is - a kayak launch into Brays bayou =)
