| The beach trip is next weekend...
When I got out of the academy I couldn't find a job for shit, no one wanted to hire someone without experience.... I applied f'en everywhere and knew that I would get a chance somewhere. I got a chance with a small county, the pay was shit and I drove 60 miles to work every day. There for a year then got hired on to where I wanted to work in the first place (Harris County). I sure had a lot of fun that year....
Stay in shape and apply, apply, apply.... keep on em', in the small towns ask for a minute (appointment) with the Chief or Sheriff.... introduce yourself and tell them who you are, tell them that you know that there is a process for hiring folks but you wanted them to be able to put a face to a name and give them a good firm handshake. Can't hurt...
Good luck dude..... | |

| its bigger than what ya want, BUT Corpus Christi has billboards and vehicles everywhere advertising for more PO (just there last weekend) don't know if hiring, but Brenham, Texas (1 hr west of Houston on 290) is a decent place...prob better with the SO than the City...but as w/all SO (I think) you got to be jailer 1st. still bigger than what ya asked about but Rosenburg, Tx (just south of Houston on 59) | |

Good luck dude..... thanks! I wont ever turn down free advice! Are you working w/a PD or SO now? Which one? Retired, Harris County Sheriff's Dept. (Houston) they are hiring and are way behind. Only drawback is that you have to work the Jail for at least a year (cool if you want to go to school) before you go on patrol. HPD is hiring like crazy and giving bonuses.... Chambers County just lost an officer, that is the county that I live in, east of Baytown. Kemah is hiring and it meets your wants but is growing pretty fast. Galveston is hiring both PD and City but I heard that they just took a pay cut. Keep on chuggin... FNU..... anything on your side of town for a shiny new PO-PO | |

| I have some academy buddies who were working at the harris co. jail during the evening and going to the academy during the day. Also that is a GREAT idea getting a meeting w/the sheriff/chief...that way they can put a face to the name. Thanks again for the free advice... I will take all I can get | |
