i want to build my front axle, but don't have the coin to buy the d44 and then to the rest of this. what would be the weak link in doing this with the d30? on edit..............the ring gear would be the weak link............but let me do the #'s for ya and then decide. i don't know that the 44 is worth it as a upgrade.......if a seriously built 30 is breaking all the time a 44 probably will too what size tires do you plan to run? anyhow........ d30 diff cover........100-150 rockslide sleave kit..........150 c-gussets....................150-200 rockcrawler truss.........200 30spline arb.................800 rcv cv shafts...............1000 gears......................200 plus install kit balljoints and seals............280 so if you can do all the work your self you will be into this project for around 3000buxs add at least 5-600 for a shop to do it for ya........ it might be worth it if 35's or 37's are as big as you ever go and if you arn't going to get stupid on the trails............ if you ever plan on 40's or really hard trails ......skip the 44 and go for the 60

| Just wait a while and I'll sell ya my dana 44 already built for 40s...been beating on it for a little while, made it through another trip to Hidden Falls for two full days of wheelin last weekend and not broke yet. A set or fornt and rear steer rocks are in the future for mine. I'll take the loss on the 44 and someone will get a good deal on it. . |
