| After driving 2 hours back from Hidden Falls, I heard a clunking noise from the front end. As soon as I got home, I noticed that I was missing a U-joint cap and ovaled out my outer stub shaft. Instead of getting the typical chromolly shafts and stronger u-joints, I chose to send a few extra bucks to get some RCV CV axleshafts from www.longfieldsuperaxles.com. These things are sweet. Shipping was fast, no tax, great warranty, and they threw in some Superior outer axle seals. Took about 2 hours to put them in and had to grind the knuckles a little to fit, but it was pretty straight forward. Here's the pics: Before: After: | |

| I honestly am not sure what I'm looking at. Would anyone be willing to explain what's going on here and what's different about those shafts? And what makes them CV shafts, too | |

50,000 ft view (they are hardened shafts utilizing a constant velocity joint), basically there is zero bind at full turn and fully carrier locked, so there is no bending of ujoint ears like our stock units or other aftermarket shafts, they are guaranteed for life up to a 37" or 38" tire (one of the two). Learn all about it here... http://www.rcvperformance.com/store/catalog/index.php | |
