Some of you know me, I'm quite layed back, I don’t take life too seriously and you know how much I hate drama. Well there is a reason, I realize just how short life can be, therefore I never to take life for granted. I typically don’t share personal life crisis issues with my fellow jeepers so this isn't easy, but I'm also not too proud to ask for a few prayers & wishes for my Mom and her battle with colon cancer since she was diagnosed about a month ago. In fact the few that knew and were praying I must say they are being answered, so from my entire family, thank you! My Mom is one of my very best friends in the World next to my wife. I know my Mom would love to meet some of you crazies on the trail, just about have her talked into doing a weekend run to Marble Falls Texas this summer when she’s better. She'd have a blast and you guys would love her.
She has stage-2 colon cancer and is being treated at MD Anderson here in Houston which is supposed to be the best place in the World for cancer treatment. She had surgery about 1.5 weeks ago, they removed what was needed including 35 limpnodes which were cancer-free (woohoo), but the cancer was in-route to the limpnodes (slow molecular process) so they are going to do intravenous chemo treatment as well probably in another week for a few weeks. My Sister has my Mom living with her right now so she’s by her side 24/7 helping her recover and let me tell you my Mom is freaking tough, she's walking, started doing steps this weekend, etc. Chemo will likely be tough and my Mom is ready to return to work so this will get interesting. She's 67 and shows no signs of slowing down, just her way! I see her every weekend to visit, help out, give my Sis a break, etc.
My wife and I talked her into doing the Galveston Mardi Gras Parade with us this year so she could have some fun before surgery and she had a blast and was shocked to find out last minute she was going to be in a “real” parade!
found a couple pics of my mom at the parade in front of my wife's jeep...

| So sorry to hear about your mom, I can relate, as you may know I was diagnosed in October with colon cancer. If you want to talk or have your mom call me I would love to talk toher. I found out even with me being a nurse I just needed to talk about it. Many many prayers going your way. Let me know if I can help. 210-389-5630 | |

| Just remembered something, big thanks to George for giving me some rear brakes advice over the phone the Friday night before the mardi gras parade. My heep apparently had a stuck caliper which just about shut the event down for my rig being in the parade and Holly's jeep had her and our two daughters in it so it would have been crazy all packed in one rig. I was able to make do and fix my caliper temporarily and get my rig in the parade so my Mom was able to do this event, so again big thanks George. | |
