| Not sure if this will "bring the ghey", but does anyone have experience with this? What I'm talking about is basically putting large car magnets on the doors to protect the paint. I know it won't help against a rock, but at least I won't cringe hearing the squeal of a tree branch against the black paint! I think there's stuff out there for the TJ, not sure about the JK. Didn't have any luck with a quick Google. P.S. - I'm still a newbie and should be allowed at least one "wow this guy is an idiot" question! Thanks, Art

| Two choices:
You either play the game or not play at all. You take the jeep offroad, you will be risking all sorts of things. Part of the game.

| I know, kind of a silly question all together. I know you risk carnage when offroad, but it doesn't hurt to try and minimize it right? Why have sliders or other body armor? I definitely could take the doors off, I wouldn't want to do that though if my kids are with me, just don't feel comfortable without doors. P.S. - Do they make painter's tape in black!?!? Haha... | |

| Then try black electrical tape. Or buy blank magnetic signs that companies use for advertising on vehicles.
Or make quick disconnects for all your body panels

| 1. Brings the ghey IMO.... 2. If your rig isn't very clean under the mags or if the mags are not clean (vehicle side) it will scratch your chit. The wife had mag signs that she used on her truck and they scratch. 3. It would be tough to cover every surface that might get scratched and Murphy will make sure that whatever isn't covered will get scratched... It's the law. 4. Like has been stated - take off the doors and top. That will minimize the stuff that usually gets it. 5. Bring a chainsaw and go first..... 6. Learn to buff out scratches - it's a skill that will bring you happiness for a lifetime. Orrrrrr..... Turn it into a trail rig and forget about all that | |

| I've been wheeling with the guys for 3 years and you won't find any scratches on mine unless you look underneath, that's when you hear...don't sorry its just the skid plate, LOL . I have actually been very lucky, rig still looks good even with all I have put it through. | |

| you could try that clear rock chip film. Some body shops do it. Kinda like window tint but thicker and clear. they usually use it as a "clear bra" for the front but you should be able to get it in larger sheets. but IMHO just dont worry about it. I had a black f-150 super crew. babied it. washed, clayed, and waxed it often. it still got scratches. no matter how hard you try, it will get scratches. my f150 had all those small swirl and spider web looking scratches. you can buff them out every few month. I have several rolls of it...............never did try it out, but if you took the time to put it on, it would definitetly help with the scratches. I have it on the front end of my IROC just for protection, and you can't even tell it's there. Works well as screen savers too! | |

How old are your kids? I have a 12yr old daughter and sometimes I take my nephews (7 & 11) out with me. What usually happens is when we hit an obstacle that is fairly technical. Most of us are stopped watching everyone else run the obstacle. If it is an obstacle that I don't feel comfortable with I always have them exit the vehicle and watch from safety ( and take pics). Unless you are with toddlers then I wouldn't worry about taking your doors off.

Yeah, I have two boys, a 2 year old and a 6 month old. That's where all my free time is right now (money too!).

| There is actually a company that makes magnetic panels for JK's- Magnashields is the company. When I first bought my JK, I read about them on "that ghey forum" (of course). | |
