| I put a new weber carburator on my cj7 a month ago and it seems to already be stopped up. Must have a dirty gas tank. Either way I am looking to rebuild it but have no clue how to even start. Anyone out there knowledgable on rebuilding them willing to sit in and show me how. I want to learn as I am sure i will need to do it again in the future. I have already looked into replacing the fuel tank once the carburator is rebuilt to prevent this again. Thanks in advance.

| It's been over 10 years since I rebuilt a carb Best advice would be to get the rebuild kit and one of those books / manuals from AutoZone that take you step by step thru the process. | |

| Have the book, no step by step. Kinda hoping someone can help me through it. I'll do the work. Just want some supervision. | |

| I have never touched a weber before, I've rebuilt the stock carter and a motor-craft that i put on a little over a year ago. I was able to find some walkthroughs to how to rebuild them online and that helped a lot.
If your still nervous, as you take apart your carb document each step so you know exactly what you did and how to go back if you think you messed up. I did this and it helped me out.
Oh what model weber do you have? | |

| Don't really know. Only know its a weber cause they told me it was when I bought it. Just don't wana have to buy another one. I guess worse case I can try it and if I screw it up, ill have to buy a new one anyway. | |

| I did a quick search for instructions on how to rebuild a weber and this is what i found. http://tedperkins.com/carb_rebuild.htmRebuilding a carb is fairly straight forward mostly taking it apart, cleaning it, and putting it back together. Only a few things might need to be adjusted and those instructions should come with the kit. If I was able to rebuild the stock carter and still have the jeep run afterwards without ever touching a carb before i think you should be fine. Ive seen diagrams for webers and they don't look as confusing. And if you can't get it to work just an excuse to go fuel injection... | |

| Never go to fuel injection, I'd rather deal with the carburator anytime. | |

| Why do you think you need to rebuild carb? have you checked fuel filter to make sure its not clogged? A one month old carb shouldn't need rebuilding. | |

| I did alot of carb rebuilds back when they were popular.... no fuel injection yet. One simple trick to do that may help is this. Take off the air filter to access the carb. While the jeep is running, rev it up and put your hand over the carb and continue to rev it until it gets close to dying, remove your hand and then rev it up again and repeat. This will force a hard suction that may remove any trash that might be in their. I agree that you shouldnt have to rebuild a month old carb. At best check the fuel filter. This should remove alot of trash before entering into the carb. This trick worked very well. Also, make sure to adjust the mixture screws correctly. Best way is to turn it off and run the screws all the way in. Then back them out 2 full turns and start the jeep. Then you can adjust them in small turns equally untill you get the best idle. Hope this helps... | |
