2012 Jeep JK's will go into Limp mode if...

This is unreal. Just more proof that Jeep has no clue anymore when comes to their customer base.



Warning: Changing gears on a 2012 JK will cause it to go into limp mode.

2012 JK Wranglers now include the A580 transmission. With this new trans comes a new trans controller, and unfortunately this controller is programmed to put the vehicle into limp mode if it senses a change in gear ratio. Even a Jeep dealer cannot override this.

Well you know what that means.... DON'T BUY A 2012!!!!!

I have been saying they will soon be IFS too. Now watch.

One more reason to never buy another new jeep. They will no longer be "Jeeps" as we know them, but instead SUV's (mom-mobiles).

Hey, just because the Jeep has leather seats, it doesn't mean it is a mall crawler.

I read that AEV has a fix for this and they are incorporating it nto their newer Pro-Cal Modules.

They are, you would have to leave it on there all the time if something happens to the jeep and needed to go in for service or they will not be able to service it because it will be in Limp Mode. i am hearing this will void the warranty. So far, that's the word i got.

Limp mode is preset on most Computer controlled Fuel injections. it basically, idle. It will not do anything else. With Fly by wire pedals now in everything, it is safety measure. In a boat, it is nice to have.

So obviously there is a way to over-ride the "limp mode" if AEV figured it out already. This is more than likely a way for the dealership, or Jeep in general, to mandate that any drivetrain modifications be handled through them and by them. Shaft just a bit more money out of an already overpriced rig.

That is what I am thinking. I bet in a few months, they will be doing gear swaps but it will need to be done AT THE DEALER to keep your warranty.
