| I was just wondering if anyone has actually done a TJ axle swap that involves welding the brackets on, not the direct bolt on axle swaps. | |

| Have you done a write up on it? About how long did it take to build? How much do you think the swap ran you? What parts(diff, brackets, and other changes)did you go with? What level of mechanical aptitude does it take to fabricate one? I was just wondering since eventually I will be doing a swap of some sort and don't want to get in over my head. I started fabricating(chopping width, sleeving) a D44 out of a 60s ford F1 truck but decided to stop due to feared lack of talent. | |

| the 8.8 was a one day job. could have been faster but I reused the brackets and truss from the d35. great thing is the 8.8 is almost the same width. it was a matter of measure once, twice and three times on bracket location. Not much to it really. | |

| So what did you do for the carrier? Did you use the limited slip, lunchbox, or full locker? If you did use the limited slip how did it work on the rocks? | |

| I welded the carrier cause I was in a hurry to go on a wheeling trip and was gonna do a lunchbox later........but 2 yrs later it's still welded. Not a dd but it does get driven. More so since I got the buggy. | |

| How does the spooled axle drive on the road compared to the Detroit you had. I would think it would be a little more predictable than the suprise of the locker in corners & wet conditions. I had to drive with the locker in wet conditions a couple times and spun out a few times. | |

| Not bad other than the squealing tires. I didn't mind the Detroit though.
