| Yup as the title says. Blew it up. Any how. I find myself in a position now to install a locker of sorts. I don't have the coin right now for an air locker so I'm lookin for insight into a nonselectable one that someone is using on a highway driven peferably daily truck. Also I have no idea what the rear end in this thing is. The diff tag reads 53005215 3. 55 605351-5 thanks in advance guys. | |

| If I was a betting man I would read it as a Dana 30 with 3.55's. A few of the guys run "auto" lockers My brother (Chris) ran the detroit locker in the rear and an aussie locker in the front. Texas-kid runs an aussie in the front. They both run their jeeps daily with no problems.

| Yup I ran a Detroit TruTrac locker in the rear and on the streets you can't even tell its there. The aussie locker in the front, was great but on sharp turns, you can hear and feel it racheting. | |

| Oh should have mentioned it is an XJ 1989 Cherokee Laredo 4.0 the Detroit is what I was looking at, and considering its only a little more expensive than a gear kit from crown looks like this is my next step. Thanks guys. Just need to be absolutely sure what rear end this thing is before ordering. | |

3. 55 605351-5 thanks in advance guys. Post a pic of it, and I can tell you immediately. I have an Aussie for a Chrysler 8.25" I can make you a great deal on--you get to keep your carrier in that case.

| Yeah not going to be a 30 at all. Deacon is right, probably a 35. Possibly an 8.25. Some Cherokees even came with a 44. Make sure you double check that it is a 35, and make sure to order a differential that corresponds with your gear ratio. Detroits are real popular out back, but you'll probably blow up that 35 again...and again....and again.... | |

| To deacon, Yeah. I still can't post pics or I certainly would. Not for three more days anyway. And I can't wait that long to fix it. Is the aussie for the 30 or 35?
To intense blue. Yeah that's why I wanted to wait and get a selectable. I may still idk yet. I was so close to welding the carier up last night but I don't think these axles would handle it at all

| Yeah the 35 is a notorious turd. You have to be very gentle to it, I have heard getting a trutrac limited slip is almost as good as a locker, but usually does not ever break. My logic was that may be a good way to cheat a 35. Chromo shafts are only about 200 bucks as well. | |

Like I said, it's for an 8.25" (the Chrysler Eight-and-a-quarter). I have an Aussie for the 30, too, but I think I'm probably going to put that in my XJ. Go ahead and send me an email with the pics. My email is my screen name here at Gmail.com which hopefully is easy enough

| Check that carrier for hairline cracks. When I redid my d30 front axle gears I barley knoticed a crack that would have caused alot of problems later. | |

| Good choice. Should be literal and direct bolt-in. The 8.25 isn't the most popular axle in the world, but it will run 35's all day. | |

| I hear it depends on the axle. Jeep 44s are not supposed to be very strong, but ford 44s are. The 8.8 is hands down a huge upgrade from what you had and is a very good option, I am not quite sure how they measure up to 44s, but it could be a better option. I am sure someone will chime in with the facts | |
