| Well guys I finally traded my 2005 Toyota Corolla S for a 2007 Grand Cherokee Limited CRD 4x4 My old Corolla The new to me WK “The 3.0-liter CRD engine, built by Mercedes-Benz, produces 215 hp @ 3800 rpm and 376 lb.-ft. torque @ 1600-2800 rpm and gets an estimated fuel economy of 19 miles city and 23 miles highway. The 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD offers class-leading torque, outstanding towing capacity (7,400 lbs.), and class-leading driving range of approximately 425 miles.” | |

| Thanks guys! took my first road trip this weekend with it, I really like it!
It definitely needs a tune-up since the best mpg I got was 17.5 all highway driven so I need to start looking into what all the diesel engine needs as far of maintenance (this is my first diesel).

| Glad I could help!
If you're getting lower mpg stock check the usual things - filters, alignment, hanging brakes. I would also immediately change the oil. You never know what the dealer put in there.
Oil specs: 5W-30 (3.0 V6) - Use only SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Engine Oil that meets Chrysler Material Standard MS-11106 or Mercedes Benz MB 229.51 and ACEA C3 qualified engine oils.
Also, pour half the oil into the filter housing and the remaining 5 quarts through the normal oil cap opening for a total of 10 quarts with a filter change. Wait 15 minutes before cranking and don't be surprised if the oil looks dirty 5 minutes after you change it. It's a diesel so don't judge the oil just on its color. We buy all our oil through Amsoil's website b/c it's easy and they have the filters/oil right there. Randy is an Amsoil dealer so you can input his dealer number and he'll get credit for your order. If you've never changed the oil in a European diesel, you should also know that the filter is a cartridge style. The new filter will have two O-rings in the filter box. One is used on the tip of the oil reservoir cap and the other is used on the reservoir cap at the top of the threads to seal the cap to the aluminum housing. The oil filter snaps on and off of the cap. I use a small flat blade screwdriver to carefully remove the old O-rings.
Check your turbo inlet hose and while you have it off, visually inspect the turbo impeller blades and check for any freeplay.
As I mentioned on the phone, you will have a glow plug failure eventually. They are fairly easy to replace. You can check resistance through the glow plug with a multimeter and see if you have any other GPs on their way out. I ordered 6 and I've already used 4. We're at 78k miles now.
Good luck and enjoy the torque!

| IIRC, it is ATF +4. Get the filter kit from the dealer. While you're doing that, do the transfer case (need special fluid from Mopar). Since you're in there, your diffs need servicing too. Just plan to do it all since you never know how it was treated prior. | |

haha not ordered yet... The lift and tires are on my to-do list but it’s not priority, first I need to do all the fluid change, etc. - Hemi_Tim aka thebigtman wrote:

Let us know what difference you see in your mileage once you've made your adjustments. Actually Three-Jeep kind of guy. 1951 Willys Truck. But this one is far from ready. Need lots of work. The only one really jealous is Michelle! She calls them my three girlfriends! In reality she actually likes it since she always knows where I am at! (The garage) I will definitely let you guys know on mpg improvements on the WK

| Just did my first mod. Bought a grill on Ebay and had it painted for free by the dealer to match the rest of the body since I don't really like chrome that much. Before After (took it with my cell so the photo is not that great but the color match just right) | |
