| Subject: A Squeal... Wed 27 Jun 2012, 7:38 pm | |
| My Jeep is squealing at slow speeds and during breaking. I have not taken it to the shop, as it is not occurring all of the time. Thoughts of what might be causing the squeal at take off at slow speeds? | |

| If it was just happening at low speeds when you are accelerating, I would say your drive belt is loose. But since you say you are hearing it when you brake, I'm less than confident in that being the issue. Checking or replacing the belt would be a great place to start though. | |

| Some brakes have a wear indicator on them. Itl's a tab the sticks just above the backing of the brake pad. When your pads have worn down far enough it will rub on the rotor and give you a rubbing sound or even a squeal. I would chech brakes

| Will check into the belt.
As far at the breaks: I have owned the Jeep for 4 years. About 1 year or so in we replaced the front brakes (wow, were they a mess) and about a year later replaced the rear breaks. BUT will check that too. | |
