| No matter how much you pay, whichever one you buy will be worth exactly the same amount. If you just have to have one, at least get one that goes into the cowl to get its air so that it's at least a little cooler than the underhood air. Spectre sells a good one that's inexpensive, about $150. They also have one for the 2.5L but that doesn't go through the cowl, just uses a heat shield. I'm not sure about 4-banger compatibility for 4.0L stuff, probably different bends and such regardless. But really you can make your own for next to nothing if you're willing to do a junk yard run. Just google Jeep TJ cowl intake and you'll find lots and lots of ideas. "Thor" sells one for the 4.0L that's overpriced but might give you a good idea of how to go about it: | |

| Previously installed a cold air intake on my TJ. Did not notice any increase in MPG. Installed a new exhaust system (3" pipes from converter back - thanks Randy).
Made the 3 sisters run yesterday. Not the best trip for gas mileage, but my MPG increased from 12 to 15 MPG. Think it will be a little better on flat terrain.
Conclusion: Cold air intake when coupled with exhaust will definitely improve MPG and power. Noticed power increase immediately with cold air intake. | |
