Richard, Jon, and Renee were all over about lunch. Right after they left I pulled out the sawsall and the cutoff tool and let the fiberglass dust fly.

| Now I am going to have to keep an eye on a slightly damaged hard top. I really like what you did with it. I will see you on Saturday. | |

| I'm not the only person to take a sawzall to a perfectly good JK hardtop.........some one else on the board has done the same with a different twist. I'll let them post up.

| Thanks for that intro Duke. Here's my Duke inspired 3 peice bikini top. Still have some work to do to make it look good at the back end. It will (hopefully) follow the lines of the soft top. First cut: Cut along sides, taped it told hold it, cut the back, trimmed to fit aroung ORH window frame. Had to cut ORH window frame too. Putting it Together, Going with the half done redneck look for now. Will eventuall be trimmed around rear roll bar and painted to match. | |

| Day 2: Think its cut to the shape I want. Just have to figure out how to fill in the gaps, mount it solid and paint. Not really sure if it's smart for 2 people who like to use a sawsall to work together! Thanks for the help Duke P.S. If you are around Duke and he has a saws all in his hand, run or drive away fast. | |

| Decided to finish the mounting today. Got some stuff at Home Depot (didn't know they sold so many Jeep parts). Started to put it together and needed a different length bolt, so back to Home Depot I went. Decided I could beat the storm and didn't put on the rear part of top. Spent 2 hours drying Jeep so it wouldn't smell like mildew. BTW if water gets in the back it goes down the wire channel under the door trim and pools in the floorboards. If the rear light gets filled with water the light bulb explodes. Here are the mounts. Used some metal stock and some of those things you put under the feet of your furniture. Pretty solid and mounted on rubber. | |

but what about when it rains? My Jeep is not my daily driver. Its simply a play toy. If the weather is bad I'll drive my F250 or I could always put on my soft top.

| not that we've really had any rain in the last few month, but i was wondering Duke, how's the tuffy box holding up? any rust? does it keep the water outta the drawer? | |

I love the box and Tuffy's service is awesome. It easily holds my spare axle shafts, recovery gear, tools, winch gear, spare fluids, etc..... The Jeep really hasn't seen much rain with no top on it. So it would be hard for me to say if its water tight. There is no rust. The powder coat finish appears to be fairly strong.
