Another trail clean up on Oahu! :D

Today (Saturday 19 Jan 2013), members of the 4x4 Play and Oahu Jeeps groups got together and conducted an area cleanup of the Kaena Point State Park on Oahu. The intent is trying to keep the area clean and open for access by everyone due to ongoing attempts by certain groups to get it shut down. Jeepers have been accused of littering the area and disrespecting the land although Senior Military leadership were able to quickly identify and point out to State Parks and Dept of Land and Natural Resources personnel that it was civilian non-jeepers who were camping over night (not allowed), fire pits smoking (not allowed), coolers (not allowed), and overnight fishing (also not allowed) which was creating the problems.

With that, all of us in the Jeep community have made repeated runs to clean up ongoing littering so that future attempts to shut the area down do not occur. The great part about today's run is that local environmentalists, joggers, and hikers all came up to us to say "Thank You" for conducting the cleanups. They further went on to say that our initiative to keep the area clean has not gone unnoticed by everyone who frequents the area and greatly appreciated what we are doing!! How about that for success!
