Is Spring Creek really shutting down??

Subject: Is Spring Creek really shutting down?? Fri 05 Jun 2009, 10:26 am

I'm posting this in "Trails and Tails" cause I'm hoping it's a "Tale"! I read on the Meetup forums that the word is Spring Creek is planning on shutting down by sometime next year. You know how it is...you hear something from a guy, who heard it from another guy...and so on. I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this - hopefully it's just rumor but - you never know with all the environmentalists out there! Anyway - anyone heard anything? Tell me it's a rumor!

If the creek closes - we have no where local to go anymore! That would really suck cause I won't be doin Sams or Soggy Bottom! I think that leaves Brazos as the last place for us...

I'm sure Geo will have info if they are.

But my bet is: internet twisted up rumors.

I searched "closing" over on the SCOR forum, and the only thread that could be misconstrued was this one: http://springcreekoffroad.com/forums/index.php/topic,2899.msg17274.html#msg17274 which (from January) talked about closing down a portion of the trail to 2nd beach.

yep it wont be around much longer

? though..how many "hikers" or whatever are going to want to mess with those skeeters...unless different drainage is also going to happen

Unfortunately there's nothing else that close Crying or Very sad

Hopefully Roland will open up a new place that just as close.

well...I was hoping that what I had heard was rumor but it sounds like this is all true...sucks big time! Jeez...where now?! Think the closest place is Brazos...and that's 2 hours away! ...ugh...

Exactly! 2 hours - ugh... Then there's General Muds- couple hours, and (ugh) mud

Here's hoping Roland finds someplace closer. If he does, that could be a good thing- new area to learn!
