| is a 1979 cj5. its on craigslist in corpus christi. I don't know how to post the link here. I saw it today and it was really nice but I don't know what i"m looking at when it comes to engines and trannys. 79'CJ5-JEEP 350CHEV, AUTO,CAM,LINED,EVERTHING NEW, $6000 MIGHT TRADE. (CC.TX) the WHOLE exterior was lined and painted yellow, and the interior was lined black. It needs a transfer case and the rod that connects it to the front axle but don't know what those run. there's no a/c, no heater, no rear tire carrier or spare, and no stereo. The owner rebuilds cars(hobby) and said he and his son rebuilt pretty much everything on the jeep. It ran well and sounded FREAKIN AWSOME! The mufflers come out the sides just in front of the rear tires. I'm not looking for a rock crawler or mud bug, just wanting something that can haul my kayak and play at the beach without worrying about rusting it out. any advice? thanks. | |

| The Autotrader TJ has a really good price! I wish I had looked a little more before buying my 2.5L last year. Anyway like thebigtman said it depends what you like. If you like classic looks go for the CJ-5, now if you find a CJ-8 for around the same price and in similar condition go for that one those are sweet! | |

| If thats the yellow one I am thinking about it has been on craigslist for a loong time....don't know if that means anything or not?? I like it a lot, I even thought about trying to come up with $$$ to get it myself. It looks like it was built right from the pics....I don't know, $6000 seems a little high to me, considering you're gonna have to put more into it. $5000 seems a little more reasonable. Thats just my opinion?? | |

| personally, I'd be looking at one of those CJ-8s. Especially for the beach. You could haul all your stuff in the back and look cool doing it! | |
