Newbie From Helotes, TX

Got my JK in May 2009. I've been running stock most of the time. I modified and installed some Rugged Ridge Mirror Relocation Brackets last month. I know it's a really, really small mod, but you gotta start somewhere, right. As it stands currently, I am awaiting the arrival of my Rancho 4" Sports Lift. Once that puppy is in, I will be looking to put on some Nitto 295/70R18 Terra Grapplers. There are other mods too, but those will have to wait until some other time.

Didn't post a pic with my original so here goes nuttin. This pic is just after my mirror mod and door removal. Try to imagine the rig with the soon to be 4" lift and 34's. It's much more impressive that way.

Hey, y'all. Thanks for the great S. TX welcome. It's good to be part of a forum full of local Jeepers. This forum was recommended to me by two members. One was in person at K2 last weekend and the other was from another forum. Thanks to both of them for their recommendations! I'm looking forward to meeting some of you at future events.

Deacon, I am just south of your 20. I'm off Bandera Rd just outside 1604. Given the size of Helotes, I guess we are all just outside of 1604 though.

I figure it's like you work during the week, but I've got tomorrow off and will be helping a buddy with a CJ do some cage work in his shop and measure for drive shafts tomorrow. He's on 471 (Culebra) outside 1604 about half way to Medina lake.

I was strongly resisting replacement of my factory wheels (resistance is futile). I actually like the way they look, plus there was an additional expenditure for new wheels (resistance is futile). The fit check with the 295/70/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers on the factory rims ended the last vestiges of my resistance (resistance is futile). When the tire hit the front sway bar I was faced with either adding spacers or replacing the wheels too (resistance is futile).

I now have a set of 315/70/17 BFG A/T KO's in the works along with some 17x8.5 MB Chaos wheels from Discount Tire. As a comparative alternative I also got a quote from 4 Wheel Parts for some 315/70/17 Goodyear Duratrac's with 17x9 Procomp 7105's, but that price is a too high so I'll probably stick with the Discount Tire deal. I give up the off-road hazard by going with Discount, but I have been using them for 20 years without disappointment.

I've got a 4" lift kit I'm getting ready to install. Once that is in I'm going back to Discount Tire for a final fit check/purchase.

Welcome! You'll be happy to know I'm currently coveting your color choice. Burnt orange is possibly the best color ever for a JK.... Besides Black, that is.
