I got this idea from a guy at my work. He used a 2x2 Metal tube to mount his jack. I liked it a lot, but it limited his use of his front tow hooks.
I got a 1x1 metal square tube 3' long
two 3/8" hex nuts 5" long
1/2" round tube metal
two U bolts
four 3/8" fender washers
four 1/4" lock washers for the U bolts
two 3/8" lock bolts
two 3/8" wing nut
I put the painters tape on the 1x1 metal tube. I placed it underneath the tow hooks and drew a line on both sides of each tow hook. I used that for the reference point to drill my holes for the U bolts.
I then installed the ubolts and then bolted in on the tow hooks to make sure I drilled the holes rights.
I then measured ten inches from the edges and drew a line. I then put it flush with the jack and drew circles through the holes near the lines I drew to show where I wanted to drill the holes for the 3/8" bolts. I then drew the holes for the hex bolts. I then cut about 2 3/4" of the round tube. I placed that over the hex nut. I grinded the sides of the fender washers so they would fit in the jack. I put one fender washer of each side of the jack and put a lock washer with the wing nut to lock the jack down.
I then put another piece of tape and measured the location of where I wanted to put the lock. I then drilled two holes and that was about it. I rattle canned the mount black and put it back on. I think I am going to see if my neighbor can spot weld the nut to the 1x1 tube.
Here are some pictures I took. I hope I didn't confuse anyone with the write up. It seems pretty secure I will drive around and see how it holds up.
