| so, i take my wife and kids to gruene as it is her favorite place to hang. ate at gristmill and listened to some texas country. as metal head as i am, i love the americana / outlaw country... i guess in a way it is the same thing. anyways.... when we got done eating we took a drive down river road. we got quite a ways down and passed a comal county police officer. i checked the rear view and saw him turn around. i knew he was coming for me. i was driving 5 mph under and the only vehicle around at the time. at that time i saw a valero and pulled in. right then the officer pulls behind me and lights me up. He asks me "do you know why i pulled you over?". Me: "honestly? i have no clue". him: is there a reason you have no front plate. me: I just put the bumper on yesterday and have no place to mount the plate yet. (meaning ever) him: so you just put the bumper on? me: yep he proceeds to eyeball my bumper to see if indeed i had just installed it. him: it does appear to be pretty new. do you have any warrants? me: nope (not that i know of) him: i am going to run your license and if you have no warrants i will write you a warning. me: ok - thank you officer. he goes back to his car. we are now the talk of the valero. i tell my wife that he is just keeping the river safe from riff raff like us. he comes back to the Jeep and says him: "i don't have time to write the warning. I just got a call that something else is going on". me: "cool" he seemed noticeably shaken. not freaking out, but he had to get a move on for something. I turn to my wife and tell her "i wonder if he could have been closer to whatever just happened had he not pulled us over" we go into the valero that we were just entertainment for and i say "don't worry folks, y'all are now safer that i got pulled over for no front license plate. I have learned my lesson" they all laughed and couldn't believe that is why i got pulled over. the really ironic thing to have done would be to have robbed the gas station... THAT would have been classic. | |

| I am waiting for the day to come when they pull me over for that same reason. After a couple of years with no front license plate, I am sure I am running out of time. Does anybody know how much a ticket like that would be? I might have to figure out a way to put my license plate up again. | |

| last i checked it is a "fix it" ticket. you take a pic with the plate taped to the bumper and bring it to court and pay like $20 for court fees. this is my 5th warning in 5 years. my srt-4 has no place to put it,, without drilling into the bumper and blocking the intercooler. the jeep no longer has a place until i get a winch. i use it as a way to be sure i don't have any warrants | |

| Front plate tickets are BS...I've had several in the past. Had a black Trans AM...no front plate, DPS loved me...ugh I've had no front plate on this Jeep since ripping it off close to a year ago...not one officer has stopped me for it or questioned it Here's 1 for ya...couple of years ago, I am running around in my Bronco...On this day, I got my new registration sticker and new plates to go with it...afterwards, I made a quick run the Katy Mills Mall for whatever reason (about an hour after getting the sticker and plates)...I had them in the front passenger seat, didn't change them out yet..why I don't know, figured I do it when I got home I guess...well while in the parking lot, I get pulled over for not making a complete stop and not using my blinker...little background, this was in the middle of the day in the middle of the week, Katy Mills has a huge parking lot (with street names, thus the reason for the cop) and I swear there where probably less than 100 cars in the whole parking lot...where I was pulled over, NOBODY was aroung (well, except for the damn cop, sitting further away in a aprking spot...Tickets yes, failure to stop (for the ants crossing the road?), not using a turn signal (even though I'm in a turn only lane), window tint too dark, AND have the wrong plate on the vehicle (which were sitting in my front seat)...I go to court, see numerous south of the border visitors charged for a lot worse...they all walk...damn bitch judge fines me for every citation! | |

| i agree with you guys, but you might consider putting it where i did it will keep the cops from pulling you over for no plate... it keeps the plate back far enough to keep it from trails damage BTW if this covers up your radiator enough to make things hot, you have other problems that need to be addressed... | |

| Just FYI having a front plate lets police "license plate recognition" software work, so if your jeep is stolen...more likely recovered...
now if you have warrants....different ending to the story. | |
