| Hey guys, I apologize in advance if this question has been answered somewhere in this forum... I haven't done very extensive surfing of the forum as of yet. My problem is as follows... I've had my Wrangler Walkabout for the past year or so and she ran like a dream up until Dec of last year. That fateful day happened to be gorgeous... flyin' down 410 with the top down, wind blowing through my hair, etc... When all of a sudden, she just started losing power. I pulled over to the shoulder and she just wouldn't turn back over. Dialed up a friend and had her towed back to my home where she, to this day, rests in her comatose state. Over the next 48 hours, I had my mechanic friend diagnose the problem for me. Much to my dismay, he claimed the engine had seized due to a complete lack of oil! I had a hard time believing this because she didn't burn oil at an above-average rate and I had just had an oil change done the month before... in any case, I find myself needing another engine. The small block, to be precise. I'm told that I can throw something else in there and she'll run just fine, which is why I come to you guys... I've been searching extensively over the past few months for a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine to no avail. What can I substitute? ... And furthermore, who in the greater San Antonio area, would you recommend to do the installation? I appreciate any and all assistance you guys can offer me. | |

| Josh, First of, Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I am not able to help you with your vehicle. I am sure some others will chime in soon enough. Redneck did suggest a nice engine replacement, but it is probably out of your budget. Sadly enough, he is one of our more knowledgeable Jeepers on the forum. Maybe he will steer you in the right direction. | |
