Here you go Sascha
Rest Stop for the La Vernia Historical Society Wild West HammerFest Bicycle Ride
The La Vernia Historical Society is raising funds to build a Veterans Memorial
Back up date October 10th
Just wanted to update you on a new topic, and ask for help. I have had
discussions with the Executive Committee and several members about
sponsoring a “rest stop” for the La Vernia Historical Society Wild West
HammerFest Bicycle Ride, so far everyone I have talked to is willing to
help, so let me tell you a little bit about it.
The La Vernia
Historical Society is raising funds to build a Veterans Memorial, they
contacted me three years ago to help them establish a bicycle ride to
help raise funds, I think you guys all know I used to ride a bike, a
lot!!!! The annual event takes place in September and if we take this
on Bobby & I can do most of the work but I need volunteers, we are
basically serving water, Gatorade, cookies whatever to bicycle riders
as they are on their journey to conquer their ride. It is a one day
event on September 19th and is only part of the day.
If you need enticing, guys you get to see lots of girls in spandex and
tank tops, on the down side you get to see a lot of guys in spandex
too!!!!
Before we say yes please let me know if you would be
interested in helping, I cannot commit without having enough
volunteers, they are expecting 1500 riders.. I thought it would be a
cool way to “show” off our jeeps and help a good cause at the same time.
Here is the web-site if you want to learn more about this event.
www.laverniawildwesthammerfest.com Thanks,
We are planning a day drive to the site on the weekend of the 12th.
The ride starts in La Vernia. Our rest stop will be in New Berlin about 20 miles north
If you plan on attending and haven't signed a release please email Renee.
redwards10@satx.rr.comGot some good info at the meeting today.
We will need to be there at 8 am.
We are manning a rest stop at the 20 mile mark. we will be providing gatorade, water, ice, towels, snacks etc. for the riders.
It will be the busiest rest stop in the race, so we will need several people.
It will not be an all day event. We will be done after the last rider passes us.
Our theme is jeeps so we will be lining up the jeeps at the rest stop.
We will need some shelters like the ones used at the beach. If anyone has one let Renee know.
