- Hey that's great work! Did you bend the metal at a shop with a press or something? I'd love to work metal that way...the things I could do!! Looks like so much fun...and talk about saving $$$! Lemme know...also, what kind of welding did you do? Is that mig?
(sorry - I don't know anything about metal-works, I just really find it INTERESTING and would like to try it one day) O.K so i started with a flat stock sheet of 3/16th metal for the bumper itself. after much research on the net and looking at other designs i finally decided on mine. got a cardboard to start with and traced out a template, as you can see in the pics first the main face then the sides. once i was satisfied i taped it up for initial mock up. i then cut up the tape and traced on the flat sheet, then used a plasma cutter to cut the peices. main bumper face was taken to a friends machine shop and had it bent inside diameter to 90* and 43*. the winch plate in between frame rails is 1/4" flat stock sheet metal. i still need to recess the 1/4" for the fogs and i still need to weld up the 1/4" fairlead bracket and gusset the plate and the d-ring brackets will get welded to another 1/4" pieceand to the bumper itself. those will be bolted through the bumper, the 1/4" and the frame itself. the roller fairlead will bolt to the outside of the bumper and the 1/4" bracket for strength. not sure if i am going to just rattle can it black or spend the $ and have it all line-x'd. the whole bumper was mig welded. | |

| I'd use the Duplicolor rattle-can bed liner for it, since it's fairly tough but more importantly easy to touch up. Or you can prime it and use Rustoleum Textured in statin black, which I'm very happy with myself. If you're going to go full-on spray-in bed liner, I'd look at the U-POL Raptor Liner kit, $100 for the full kit from TP Tools, including spray gun (still needs a compressor to hook up to it). | |

| total cost $88.00 for sheet of 3/16" , already had the clevis mounts and the 1/4" peices. so $1,000,000,000 was the total cost. yeah that's right.....my time is valuable. and no ....... no chrome, thanks for the input though. | |
