| I just mounted and wired up mine today. Got the same Cobra 19DX IV that's pretty common, and sed a Workman PSM-1 mount. It requires two holes drilled in the body, but it fits very nicely over next to the license and tail light. Installing it was easy - I first removed the tail light and then used the plate it came with to mark the holes, and then drilled two holes (one 3/8th and one 1/4, IIRC) -- making sure to use pilot holes first. Then, you have to cut off the end of the Coax cable, and run the GND to the smaller pole and the signal to the larger. The mount has a rubber gasket to keep from scratching the paint and to seal it up tightly. There's a plastic isolator for the signal pole, put that in from the inside of the body - I had to cut one side off, so it locked nicely against a ridge in the interiror. Each lead out of the coax cable was crimped on a wire lug, and then the nuts hold them on and tighten the whole bracket down. The cable runs nicely through the same plug used to feed the brake lights, and the rubber plug fits back into place. Then, just ran the cable all the way down, and up the a-pillar, into the top. Only thing I had to do was pop the kicker panel near the driver's seat and pop loose the a-pillar panel. Everything else slipped right in with the freedom panel removed. There's not much flex at all on the body panel when pulling on the whip. It seems to be a well-supported spot with two layers of sheet metal. The cb bracket is just screwed into the top panel, and I cut off the power wire and attached it to a standard molex connector so that I can just pull the whole unit out easily. The power is patched into the wires for the always on lighter socket - with the fuse right behind my switch panel for easy access. !c | |

| I went with the Midland convertible hand held/vehicle mounted CB. I really like how I can make it go away when not needed plus I can switch it to hand held when I get out of the rig. I use the same mount to hold an ipod or iphone when off the trail. The antenna ends up here. Nice and clean.... I can tuck it away when not using it. I went with the Wilson groundless antenna setup to avoid the common grounding issues.... you can adjust the swr by using the thumb screw and sliding it to get the best numbers ran the wire along the usual route... Mounted the antenna on the spare tire bracket by drilling a hole. I used it during the new years run and it worked great. I like to listen to the radio all the time so I might add a speaker to it and run the speaker to the bar over my head... that would be real easy and allow me to turn the radio up a bit and still be able to hear the CB | |

| It must be a "city thing," as I've always understood "bear" to be slang for "hairy gay man." Well, it's a good thing you didn't start with "furry" =)

The main "box" is mounted under the glove box. I have a trend going here. Every thread of interest is 100 years old. Well, I finally will be able to know what is going on. I ordered this CB here. How does it attach under the glove box? Any drilling required? I hope it is far enough under the GB that it isn't visable or kickable. It should be here Thursday and I wanted to play with it on my road trip to S.A. this weekend but I doubt I will be able to install by then. Does it need to be tuned after its installed?

| LMAO. I consider making you edit my post a huge win. When all else fails, edit someone else's post. No update from fedex yet. I hope CB is here tomorrow and I have a little time to mess with it before I leave this weekend. Do all the cables just lay on the floor board under the carpet? I haven't looked how to get from the tailgate into the back of the jeep. If the CB is mounted under the glove box, where will the power cables pass thru to the battery? | |

| I got the coax and the ground from the tailgate mount thru the tailgate. The directions say to attach ground to the same acorn nut that is used to mount the sub. What if I don't have a sub? I pulled up the carpet and didn't see anything there. Where do I attach the ground cable? | |

Do you have a sub box? I hear of some folks using the mounting bolts there. I would try and go to the frame if you can, I have not done it yet but plan on getting one in where the shrock bumper meets the frame... that should do the trick for sure. I do know that getting a ground is a little tricky but "doable"> I bought one of the Wilson Groundless just for that reason and it has worked very well.

Do you have a sub box? I hear of some folks using the mounting bolts there. Sorry just thought that was funny. I don't have a sub box and didn't see any bolts there. I just connected it to the star/hex bolt that is used for a tie down on the floor near the storage cubby. It might not be a great ground but I will see when I am done with everything else. The ground cable was only about 2' long so I can't go too far away.

| Finished my install. Turned it on and KABOOOM. Hehe j/k I picked a signal from some truckers on the highway which is about 2 miles away. Wasn't extremely clear but at least it seems to be working. Now how do you tune it? I don't know if a poor ground could cause static or if it just needs to be tuned. | |
