| How much of a hassle was it? What kind of process is involved? Do I just walk into the stealership and say I want "blah blah blah jeep with blah blah blah...FIND IT!"? | |

| Check with JKFreddo. He works at the dealer. You will probably get the best answer from him. | |

| thanks yall!
I took a 4dr sahara for a test drive yesterday and it was super fun
The base model I want adds up to 27K and the Rubi I want adds up to approx 34K. I am thinking it might be worth it to just save up long and spring for the rubi since there is only a 7K difference God knows I want 1/2 doors...I LOVE half doors.
Here is what I am trying to find in my ideal jeep (well I want a J8 but its way too much $$$$$$$) 4 door 4x4 White paint Khaki interior 373 gears or 410s if its a Rubi (just not 3.21s...those things are terrible) FREEDOM top (I want to get the slant back soft top...not the OEM top) MyGig half doors auto or manual it doesnt matter Track-lock posi (for base model)

You could save 7 grand and build it.

| IMO that is too much for an 07' X... you might be able to haggle the price now that the 2010s are out. I agree - save the cash and build it up yourself. Let me dig up the post that reassured me when I had second thoughts about buying my X.... | |

| This sums it up pretty well.... at least it did for me. When I bought my X I wanted to put a good chunk of $$ down and get it as basic as I could other than an automatic tranny and AC... I started second guessing myself after the build wasn't going as fast as I wanted.. .(read impatient) just needed a little support. After next month I will be locked front and back with quick discos up front and the anti-rocks in the back... chromies up front and soon in the back.. I am firmly back on track with the build and the patience has paid off for me. Here is the thread I was looking for... http://www.myjeepforum.net/everything-else-f1/alright-dammit-t1502.htm | |

| thanks MRG that is a pretty hardcore thread!
Well I was looking up cars on carmax they have quite a few jeeps so that is another option I am looking at. If I end up getting a new JK I am going to get a base model X and build it just the way I want it.
also I have always thought the landrunner conversion was pretty cool.... I spent many days sitting at school "building my own" car on his site.

| My wife usually gets a new GM (Tahoe, H2, Suburban) every two or three years. Here is how I buy them.........go to GM.com and build it on line. Then send out that build sheet to every GM dealer in the state. I generally get a reply from 30 or so dealers. Most prices are prettty consistant, but there is always four or five dealers who are willing to build it to my specs and give away the farm. Dozens of dealers competing means I know I will get the best deal. While all of the above applies specifically to GM, I am sure it would all be similar with Jeep. | |

My post about that goofy looking POS was sarcasm..... but yours would be cool lol thanks ron....I don't think the setup pictured above above looks the greatest but the one I usually built online looked pretty sharp... Duke, that is a good idea. I was only going to check out the local stealerships but there isnt any reason I cant mail it everywhere and find the lowest price. Thanks for the tip.

X2, or is it X3? it is X3 and we have been talking via PMs but I would rather have a local stealership order it and not have to drive 5hrs to S.A.

| time for me to pop in. got home and got caught up on everything. ok, FYI. Jeep factory rebates are NO WHERE near where they were a few months ago. so the deals are not as good as they have been. but, this is good for current jeep owners, as resale / trade values have also gone up consistantly for the past year. let me know what you want (build it on jeep.com) and let me know. i will get a price for you. i can deliver it too. | |
