| I posted this for Shannon to see! I was taking to her about a remedy for a condition I have called Cluster Headaches. One of the Remedy's is to take Kudzu extract. Kudzu happens to be one of my fav. plants, which I thought was kinda ironic. Kudzu is a weedy vine that grows in the southeast us. that was brought here to help with erosion problems, it is illegal to carry kudzu into most states as it can take over an entire an entire city in just a few seasons, despite it's pesky growth is has a natural beauty. Here are a few pics of what it looks like and what it can do. This is a pic of it taking over a home. | |

| It is becoming an issue out here in east texas...some of the local farmers have found that sending a herd of goats through it is a GREAT way to take it out...the goats like it too lol | |

There is lots of it back home. I agree, Jennie. It does look good on this hills, but one question about it is how do you get the benefits from it? Do you buy the extract or is there away to do it yourself?

Do you buy the extract or is there away to do it yourself? I'm not really sure how you get the benefits of it. But it's been a proven way to release the pain Clusterhead's have. The condition I have is un-curable and patients are usually willing to try anything someone else says works. Zack here is a link explaining what I have, it does not mention Kudzu as it's just a letter explaining what a Clusterhead is but on the boards I am a member of they talk very highly of Kudzu. As I was telling Shannon about it I told her that I would e-mail her pics of Kudzu or post up pics on the forum. Link: http://www.ouch-us.org/downloads/ch_syndrome.pdf

| Wow, that is an invasive plant! It is very pretty though. I wouldn't try making the extract yourself unless you read up extensively on it. The thing with making extracts from plants is that you have to know exactly how to do it and how much to ingest. You can take too much of an extract of some herbs and it will have a negative effect instead of the positive effects you are looking for. So it is always a good idea to buy extracts. However I make herbal tea out of my herbs in the back yard. Cinnamon Basil, Rosemary, Lemon Leaf. These are all good herbs to make tea out of and have great medicinal qualities. | |

| nat geo on its explorer show had someone who was suffering from cluster headaches and it did not look like fun. he went though several oxygen and it still wouldn't go away. the drug they were testing on the sufferers was a form of lsd that didn't have the hallucinogen in it. who would have ever thought togive someone acid to get rid of a headache? oh i know, someone on acid lol. | |

I've heard of that before. There are alot of plants that are poisonous for us to ingest and/or illegal to grow or buy; but small extractions of these plants are used by the science and medical field for making new drugs. These plants have medicinal qualities but also are hallucinogens or stimulants and therefore are illegal and considered dangerous. Nature gave us all these wonderful plants for a reason and the government has made it illegal for us to grow or purchase which is a shame. Take marijuana for example. Naturall plant that grows wild in some areas and has alot of medical qualities. It helps with so many disorders and diseases but it is not readily available to mainstream.

It's illegal; so for me it is hands off. Not worth ruining my life and having the kids taken away.

| goldenboy: yes I have heard of people taking the form of LSD to help, and from what I hear it works, but I am way too scared to try it.
Hippy: I was reading more on Kudzu today and found out that every part of the plant is eatable, the Chinese us it for all sorts of things, They say you can eat and drink pretty much all you want that it's uses for a regular food for them. I went a head and ordered the extract and am going to try it. If it works I think I am going to try to boil some tea from the roots later.
I myself am not one for using anything illegal, but you would be surprised at what some will try during one of these episodes. I know I have a very mild case of CH but when a level 10 spike hits it's unbearable. People who have Chronic CH usually will try anything and sometimes end in death.
I am a member of a CH forum and we loose anywhere from 2 to 4 members a year to suicide.
