My neighbor (JK owner) and I are building rock sliders for my Jeep. I am giving him my Jeep step tubes for his assistance. He has a welder and metal chop saw. I could have just taken them to my school to weld but he wanted to help for the swap. He used to weld fence pipe so his skills are much better than mine. We also had a lot of fun putting our heads together building these sliders. I wanted 2x4 tubing but settled on 3" square because they had too light of steel for the purpose at the supply shop. I am putting some tubing 1 5/8" on the side. We got everything tacked together on the drivers side. I have some braces that go between the pipe yet to put in but this is pretty much the look. We cut the rails back off to be able to get a weld all the way around the elbow section. Now we just need to burn it all in. When we finish the drivers side we can do the passenger. Here are some pics. My neighbor wasn't available today so I finished the passenger side by myself and got everything welded on.

Finished:

Thanks, Yes I always lay a welding glove over the posts just so they don't make contact. Homemade rock sliders Icon_cool
