| The company I work for is having a Fleet Auction for company workers. There some Chevy, Ford and Dodge pickups. I have to take a look what models they are but I think they are from the 90s and up. I am just thinking out loud here but if I can get a good price for one, what model engine should I look for? Something that I can swap in my jeep easy | |

| if it was me i'd look for a 4bt. if i'd have done the math on my stroker build correctly i would have just opted to do the 4bt myself. 30 something mpg and more power then you could ask for sounds real good | |

| Ok. Just took a look at them. They have some Chevy 3500, two Ford Super Duty, a bunch of Ford F150, one Ford ranger XL, one Dodge Ram 1500 V6. Nothing with a 4bt. They all look like junk but going to go to the shop to talk to the mechanics to see what they can tell me about each truck. | |

I don’t think so, I will have to check again but I am almost positive that they are not. The person in charge of the shop is out today. I will talk to him tomorrow; he has a list of what’s wrong with each truck. | |

| too bad then you could just take the entire drivetrain and computer and put them in your jeep instead of mixing and matching | |

| I talked to the shop guy. The Fords have the L6 on them so that’s no go for a swap, too big. The Chevy 3500s have the V8 350, this might work but the more I read about the swap the more I think it will not be easy. Engines were running good last time they used them. | |

| If i were you man I would follow closely to the VW swap. the Hp is about the same as an inline 6 and the torque is way better. Plus because its a turbo you could always put a slightly larger turbo on with almost no problems and see major gains in power. It would be simple and the engines cant be terribly expensive. You could probably find a junked TDI and yank it and use it for far cheaper than anything else. IDK man I have a jk and hell I would consider doing that for an engine swap on mine. Just saying. | Does anyone have a dyno sheet for the TDI motors? I'd be interested to see what the torque curve looks like. Is it anemic at the low end and only starts to put out power as the revs go up and the turbo gets spinning? | |

| Typically the torque curve is fairly flat on a diesel and falls off---thus the need for boost. It would be interesting to see though, I will do sum huntin'. | |

| Well this isn't exactly a Cummins, which is why I was asking. Plus, I have no idea what size fans they're using and how quickly it spools up at the expense of ultimate power versus spooling up slowly so it can cram more air in at the top end. | |
