August 28th Drive through Junction Back Roads

All,

DJ has offered to host a run through some backroads up in Junction, we can drive up, hit some roads, go for lunch then bring your swimming gear and we can hit the river in the afternoon. We thought we would meet up there about 10am, more details to follow but will be a fun time for all. This is NOT a off-roading trip just a nice drive on some old scenic roads.

All who would like to stay overnight there's a few good motels but the one I would reccomend would be "legends inn" I figure we can meet up in the city park around 10:00 and go over the plan for the day.. I'll come up with a few different runs and we'll decide as a group what'll work best.. These roads are a good 4-5 hour trip. Dependin on how many breaks we take..lots of nice places to for breaks..

Looks like we are in,I think Lil David is off that day too. Sounds fun to me.

People always camp at the city park.. It's set up for camping BBQ pits and tables.. It's free .. Plus that's the meeting location

If u take the juntion exit and go over the interstate you'll come to the llano river bridge.. As u cross the bridge going into town, the city park will be on the right.. You'll see the softball fields and public pool amongst other parklike stuff.. If for some reason u miss the 1st or second junction exit you'll come to the truck stops.. Then you'll exit , go left under the overpass , through town and it'll be on the left before crossing the llano river bridge.. It's hard to miss.. City park is on the west side of river

Sounds like fun. We should be able to make it.

Hope everyone is getting excited, it should be a lot of fun. Plan on bringing sandwiches, ice chests, camera, chairs and mosquitoe spray. If anyone wants to caravan we will meet at the IH10 & 1604 Park & Ride at 7:30 am on Saturday.

We are going with the top up and will take it down when we get to the park in Junction.

I just got the leg work done.. I let the dispatchers at the S.O. Know incase they get a call and I talked to junction Pd and asked about beer in the city park.. They said it's ok as long as we keep it in cups.. Only thing really left is .. Would y'all rather bar-b-q at the park or would y'all rather eat at the bar-b-que place on the way back into town? Dogs at the park need to be on a leash if anybody brings their hound..
It's gonna be hot and dusty out there so takin the top off Will be yall's call.. I rode out there today in my truck and I alone left a thick trail of dust..
Anyone camping that would like to go on a short evening ride will be great.. The best odds of seeing wildlife is in the cool parts of day.. Lol especially u lucky soles that camp will get to see the " city deer" ..they come out in the evening and roam around freely around town..
I'm looking at all getting together around 9:30 so we can be Rollin no later than 10.. So hopefully we can be back before the sun really gets to cookin.. Then we can eat and swim or throw washers..
If anyone is interested in tubing e llano river we can rent tubes for 5$ and there is a section that takes about 4 hours to tube that very scenic..
