| OK. So here is another paradigm shift in my thinking since getting the Jeep. My previous vehicle was a black 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab. I couldn't stand it when that truck got dirty. And don't even think about muddy. . But this? This just looks 53XY! My wife was like, "You're gonna wash that Sunday, right?". I'm like, "Uhhhhh, well, maybe?" | |

| Well, it took over a week to do it right, but clean, sexy Hook-em is back on the road. Daddy like! Here is the final battle damage assessment from the Canyons Trip: The paint has been etched by the mud in several locations. Lesson learned. Wash the mud off the paint right away. The passenger side step has a bent center bracket, which can be straightened. It also has moderate rock rash on the bottom edge. The driver's side step has a bent rear bracket, which can be straightened. The license plate is bent to heck and the bracket has a minor fracture along the bottom edge. The drivers side A-pillar has a scuff on it from the tree root on "The Big Hole". It'll buff out. 3 out of 4 fenders have S. TX pin-striping. The driver's front is down to the base plastic in two areas. The driver's side rear quarter panel has some S. TX pin-striping. I don't know if it will buff out. The front bumper has moderate rock rash on both outside corners. The rear bumper has moderate rock rash on the drivers side and deep scratches and moderate deformations on the passenger side. The passenger side rocker panel has two areas of deformation from the displacement of the passenger side step. If this had been on my old 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab, I'd have been fightin' mad . With my jeep, I'm like, , which one should I mod out first. I think I have a major problem that might require an intervention. Dang Jeep! | |

| Hook-em...Speaking from experience, you need to take those plastic steps off. I left them on my Sahara after multiple warnings and ended up cracking both in half into the rockers...not pretty. Heed the warning my friend. | |

Yah, I know. I hear what you're saying. There are always have other spending priorities though. It would be nice if there was someone with some LOD, TnT, Hanson, or Teraflex units that were taking up space and would give them away. I've actually begun researching what is the best alternative for me. I like each of those manufacturer's products, I like the Teraflex sliders because they are aluminum and I like the idea of the weight difference. However, I'm not sure of the durability trade-off with those units. Whatever I go with will need to have rocker panel covers to hide the damage done already. Side steps for the wife and daughters will also be needed. Thanks for covering my back though. Maybe I can return the favor some day.

I know Danny does really good fab work. I presume DoubleAFab is a fabricator too. I've toyed around with the idea of designing my own and having someone make an all-aluminum slider similar to the LOD (or the Poison Spyder). I just don't know those guys well enough to approach them on the matter. I also don't know if a one-off build would be ridiculous in price either.
