Luckenbach Day Trip - Saturday, September 22nd

It's now time to start planning on our day trip to Luckenbach. It should be a very enjoyable trip.

We will meet in the Jack N Box parking lot at 281N & Evans Road at 9:30 am. Departure will be 9:45-10:00 am. Our initial stop will be the LBJ ranch in Johnson City. Ranch tours are free. If you want to tour the LBJ Texas White House (inside the house), there is a $2 fee for 18 & older.

The next stop will be historic Luckenbach. The Lone Star Music Festival is being held on the 22nd. Some may want to return to Luckenbach later in the day for this event. Our main event is to visit the General Store and partake of a liquid refreshment or two.

After Luckenbach, we will depart for Fredericksburg and have a late lunch at a great German Restaurant, Friedhelms Bavarian Inn. There are many good German restauants, but only one great one in Fredericksburg.

Fredericksburg has a plethora of wineries, but most charge a tasting fee. Two, Texas Hill Vineyards & Woodrose Winery & Vineyards offer free tastings. We would be remiss if we did not visit at least two of the local wineries.

For those with children, Enchanted Rock is a few miles out of Fredericksburg and is well worth the visit. If you have not visited this historic place, you should do so. The Admiral Nemintz Museum is also a great place to visit.

We have this event on our calendar already. We might have to party catch-up though as Ally's (and mine since I'm coach) volleyball practice is that day. I'm planning on having it arty 0900 if given the option.

I wont be able to attend. My graduation is that day at 4, and I have to show up downtown at 3 for it.

The day trip to Luckenbach is drawing near. So far, we have the following committed:

It's my grandbaby's birthday that day, so we won't be able to go.

I'll make it there if I can get the day off (Should be no problem) and assuming I can get my new axle in by that time. Getting my new axle put in tomorrow (well today really I guess) so I'll more than likely be there!

GK and I are a highly probable...we were married at LBJ park, and love the pulled pork sammiches at luchenbach (its the mustard base bbq sauce) ...

I may actually be able to make this one... I'm not 100% as I'll be getting back into town earlier in the week and will likely have other time-sensitive stuff to get done, but it sounds like fun, so I hope I can make it.

Bad news, getting pretty bad death wobble, hopefully I can get my control arm bushings replaced and get an alignment done before Saturday... pretty sure I can, if 4WheelParts can't put in the bushings in time (I don't have a press or anything to put em' in) I'm sure they sell the X-Flex bushings and I can have a shop install them.
And I just found out the X-Flex bushings don't need a press or anything, pretty easy to install.

Bad news here. We will be unable to attend this event after all. In addition to Ally's first practice (which I managed to get scheduled for 0800), Madi's middle school volleyball team has a round robin volleyball tournament as well. It will be a full day of volleyball in lieu of Jeeps and Luckenbach, Texas.

Please tell Waylon and Willie and the boys hello for us.

And now I can't go either... can't find a decent place to get an alignment that can do it before the trip, I had a place scheduled and everything for today, but their "expert" mechanic didn't know what a control arm was, and said death wobble is caused by the tires... not letting him touch Chery.

Sounds like an awesome weekend to go Hill Country bar hopping. But it's also the Comal County Fair BBQ cook off on Friday & Saturday so I guess I will just be pit hopping. But hopefully next time. Don't forget to stop at Albert, Texas.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to join y'all tomorrow. Too much procrastinated work has caught up with us...

Attached is a compilation of photos from our trip to Luckenbach & Fredericksburg. Everyone seemed to have a great time. We had 22 Jeeps and 1 Lincoln in our caravan. The 23rd Jeep joined us in Luckenbach.

The only sour note, on my way back I lost my CB antenna & Jeep Nation flag.

Now looking forward to Big Bend in October and Three Sisters in November.

That looked like a great road trip. Really sorry we missed it. My condolences, Ray, on losing your antenna and JN flag.
