Fellow off-roaders, you might want to be aware of this if you haven't heard already!

I'm not sure I understand. Nothing is mentioned there about OHV's or other vehicular access. Should it be implied?

It's another attempt to "win one battle" so the activists can win the war shutting down the off-road recreation areas. If they win this one then the rest of the area will be on the target to be "federally protected" and then prevent MOAB from being used.

Right now Johnson Valley (Hammertown/King of the Hammers) is facing potential Marine base expansion taking over all but 40,000 areas of the valley for more training land (even though there are major financial budget cuts for the DoD and other government agencies). The expansion reportedly ties to base water issues and if they expand further out then they can tap into the underground water system of Johnson valley that 1500 community members rely on for their livelihood as well.

As sad as this is to say, offroading in all forms is such a small business that employs just a small handful of people that in the grand scheme of things they don't particularly "matter". Oil and gas on the other hand are huge, employ hundreds of thousands of people, and generally hold more political capital than elected officials. It really is only a matter of time before this goes through one way or another. I'm not saying its good, nor am I advocating for it, but unfortunately it's the way of the world.

On a side note, I do find it ironic that most people that consider themselves 'wheelers' were in favor of the keystone pipeline, or any other sort of "job creating" venture by oil and gas companies, even though they might destroy a bird sanctuary or local marsh lands that some people personally enjoyed and created businesses to live off of. However, now that these same 'job creating' ventures are encroaching on what we enjoy, it should now be taken seriously and fought against? Ironic shit.
