| Hey Guys,
We have had guite a bit of interest in a Moab trip. I would like to start some serious talks about a trip there perhaps next year in August?? I will start gathering pricing and other info. If you have ideas you would like to share please post up. Some of you may have been there already and would have some great insight to a trip like this. Let the planning begin!!!

| august is going to be extremely hot. been passing thru in july or august before and it was triple digit oven heat. i've been in early june and it was starting to get hot but bearable. late april or may seems to be just right as is early june. i hear october is nice as well. when i've gone in may it's been 30-40's in the morning and 80-90's in the afternoon. dress in layers and by the time you hit the trailhead mid morning your in shortsleeves and possibly shorts.
depending on time of year I'd be interested in this trip

| renee, we might want to set a date when it isn't as hot. I'd rather spend a few $$$ more on hotel, and be a little more comfortable. | |

| I picked summer mainly because of school, several guys have kidos and some are in college, the stats (see above link) on temps don't seem to bad for summer but I guess it could always be a record year. | |

| I've been through Moab and it sure looks like a fun place to play. I am interested in going.
Have you thought about a rough idea of how long you'd want to wheel? 3 days is probably plenty for most folks. I'd allocate 3 days for travel. 1.5 days each way. Google says 18 hours to Moab from SA. I drive from here to ABQ/Santa Fe all the time and it's a really easy drive. Traffic is light and the roads are in good shape. Driving through northern NM offers some great views. ABQ is definitely very do-able in one day of driving from SA, and if you're really making good time, Farmington offers a good spot to stop after you pass through ABQ. It's probably another 2 hours north of ABQ.
There's certainly a lot to think about on a trip of this magnitude.

| I agree with Tim on this one, abq is a good days drive, and yeah renee I like the idea of summer too. Hot is always doable plus Ive always heard that moab is the worlds funnest place to wheel at night. | |

Check and see if they have "Lonestar Beer" so I know if I should add it to my checklist.. I'm guessin they won't.. But if they got Shiner that's cool too..

| I think the trip would be at least 3-4 days and 2 of travel. We plan to get as many trailers we can find and trailer rigs, we have a new jeep member (old friend) that has a trucking company, he has a trailer that can haul 3 rigs, we have one trailer. Thoughts are to trailer rigs and have several ride together, if we do that we can switch drivers and maybe make it all the way...unless you guys want to stay the night in ABQ.
I am getting pricing together... found a great deal on condos (sleeps eight) and its $220.00 a night. I will email the pricing I have done so far to those interested. I will continue to get more prices and a grand estimate of costs.
