Lift Kit Suggestions / Tips / Recommendations

We just joined Jeep Nation and My wife and I are new to owning a jeep and modifying them.  We want to start with the lift kits and fender modification.  Being new we need information on what works well, what doesn't work so well, and what we might want to stay away from.  We have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler 2dr.  What are your suggestions for a good lift kit?  Brand recommendations?  Recommendations on size / height?  Tips and tricks would also be helpful.  We're planning for mostly on road use but we are also considering some lighter off road such as beach driving at Corpus and South Padre area.  If we decide later to do some heavier off road use, will most kits perform the same?

Just getting started...

If you just getting started just go with a budget boost 2.5" or so, anything bigger requires being committed to spending more money (drive shafts etc). As for fenders, there are plenty to choose from and all will work, its more personal preference. You best money is a budget boost and 35" tires to get started....

Which cheap lift kits should I install on my jeep? What is the biggest size of tire I can put on later? I know it's an old thread, but I'm still awaiting your input.
