| Give me a good deal on your hemi when you decide to stuff a diesel under your hood.... That IS if you get the bugs worked out between now and then. | |

| I'd love to see the hp/tq comparison between our 3.8L and the CRD diesel. Anyone have this benchmark? Wrangler 3.8L
Horsepower: 202 Torque: 237 Wrangler CRD Diesel (if that's what they go with)
Horsepower: ? Torque: ? more interesting reading:So maybe a 2.0 or 2.4 diesel http://blogs.jpmagazine.com/6587750/editorials/wrangler-diesel-by-2011/index.html Numbers to think about: * CRD 3.0L diesel (215hp @3800rpm, 376ftlb @1600-2800rpm @19-23mpg) * TJ 4.0L (190hp @4600rpm, 325ftlb @3200rpm @14-19mpg) * JK 3.8L (202hp @5200rpm, 237ftlb @4000rpm @16-19mpg) * Liberty 3.7L (210hp @5200rpm, 235ftlb @4000ftlb @17-22mpg)

| CRD from the Liberty is 160 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The current JK CRD in Europe is 177hp, 295lb/ft torque. I think max torque kicks in at 1800 rpm and goes up to 3800rpm or so. I'll see if I can find a torque curve.

| Yes, max torque kicks in at 1800rpm. Max HP is at 3800rpm.
I have a CRD Liberty 4x4. I love that diesel. It kicks butt on the highway towing a trailer. I can tow at 80mph all day long up and down the mountains.

| Just read your post about the predator on the CRD. It definitely shits and gits with a programmer. Throw a suncoast torque converter and shift kit and it really moves out with authority.
Hell, in stock form it'll smoke the shit out of the tires.

| his used to, but hes on his 4th either recalled or warentied transmission, and every time it goes in the shop they reflash the computer with the "latest" crd tune........some really suck , some are awsome, the one they have in there now sucks, probably 15-20hp down, low boost, and shitty throttle lag............but its out of warrenty now and he wants a predator for christmas | |

Ok I'd be happy with a humble 400-500 ftlbs of torque....single turbo. I'm not starting over when diesels come out...I mean mine would be paid for...but hmmm....guess I could just spend a weekend swapping out parts, no trade-in crap...pffttt hey that's an idea .

NO !!! it's not !!! I already can't afford the jeep i HAVE !! let alone one that will be in super hi demand and priced at a premium for the first 2-4 years. not to mention, i will get my A$$ kicked outta the house if i picked one up well, maybe if i waited until the 4 year... maybe i'd have a chance. after my current toy is paid off.... maybe. don't get me wrong, i'd sell an organ to get one, but now i'll be looking at my current jeep with a little less satisfaction when the diesel JK comes out and i don't have one

| ehh more I think about it, I figure someone will have a kit by 2010 for an LS7/whatever transmission will adapt, closed loop engine oiling, custom grind cam for hellacious torque, longtube headers, CANBUS capbable piggyback PCM to talk to the Chrysler PCM...pffttt... I wouldn't waste my time on it but I bet by 2010 someone will come out with a stroker kit for these 3.8s. Not sure how think our walls are but these are cast iron blocks I believe. | |

Now why they didn't consider a factory HEMI gets me, but whatever. Screw it, I'm going old school for more JK power, Moth Balls in the gas tank baby

will do, thanks for the tip......... i'm a ts performance dealer, but the mp-8 for the crd is not the best everyday tuner, we played with it some and it just never worked so well............ of corse back then i was driving a fire breathing 700hp cummins common rail, dodge ram..............it ran mid elevens in the quarter@115mph and 1.4-1.5 60ft times.........................so i might have been spoiled back then

| I don't know why anyone hasn't tried to yet, To date there are a couple JKs out there with LSxx engines, of course HEMI's, so a custom dieseled JK is only logical. I bet you they would sell more of those than HEMI's if someone kicked it into high-gear. Wheeled with a guy @Marble Falls with a TJ'd diesel on 37" BOGGERS, thing was a beast. | |

| OK...who's going to be the 1st to "test drive" one of these diesels and um while out and about "accidently" total the rear...or maybe hitting a k-rail might do it too...lol thinking a couple of these "accidents" in the Houston area, SA area and all those surrounding areas could happen w/in a 3 week period...then hopefully a few engines could be picked up after insurance does their thing | |

| burnsville did a 3.0 crd swap in a jk and i believe slc in dallas has one they are working on.......both are stupid expensive.....like more that a 6.4 hemi
so the gains are not that great...
now...that said the 2.8 is a reativly easy swap, but illegal as fawk, thats why no one is doing it, the engine in its current form does NOT meet us emmision regs..........but if you wanted to do it, it really woulendt be a problem, find a crd engine and go buy everything else you need from the dealer, the problems are worked out already as it is a factory engine, and aev has the final part the dealer will not sell you..............the pcm
