Bastrop Patriotic Jeep Day

Ok,

I tried to delete this post and start a new one to avoid confusion, but didn't see an option (but I may have missed it). So I complete updated this post and I need to get some additional information and confirm attendance. Please see below:

The Particulars (A Refresher):

Where - Rusty's Walnut Creek in Bastrop
When - Saturday July 3, 2010
What Time - Approximately 10:00AM
Wheeling Cost - $20 per rig per day
Overnight Accommodation Cost - The bunkhouse is $125 for the
night and that amount will be split evenly based on the number of people
staying in the house (number of people divided by $125)
Trail Ratings - Easy to Moderate on South Side, Moderate to High
on North Side. Property consists of creek runs with no rocks, tight
squeezes, off camber. Is not an extreme place, but is fun and technical
and accommodating to people with all type of rigs (full size rigs will
have issues with the tight squeezes).
What to Bring - Lots of water (the area is mostly shaded, but it
will be hot), lunch, your favorite beverage for Saturday night, food for
Saturday night (unless you plan on grabbing something in Bastrop that
night).

The Plan -
We will wheel for most of the day or until people get tired and wanna
stop. At around 6:00PM, we will mount up and drive into Bastrop and
park in the Tractor Supply parking lot to watch Bastrop's Annual
Patriotic day fireworks show. The hot rod guys usually hang out there
too, so you can check them out.
After the fireworks, we will head back to the place to sit around and
enjoy some adult beverages and BS.

Here is what we need to know:

Confirm you are attending (as far as I am concerned if your on the list
below you are attending ):

Need to know who will be spending the night and whether you are camping
or wanting to stay in the bunkhouse (I will get the camping cost from
Rusty if people are interested in camping rather than staying in the
bunkhouse). I need to know the number of people in your party that will
be staying so we will get an idea.

I will update this thread with maps and GPS coordinates after I go out
and get the coordinates to make it easier to find (its not hard anyway),
or we will meet people at designated points at a specific time to lead
you in.

Tell me about Walnut Creek... What's it like? Is it in Bastrop, or closer to Austin? I primarily wheel at BVORR, and have been to Longs, that's it. What are we looking at for cost?

Walnut Creek is a private ranch here in Bastrop. It isn't anything extreme, its basically a long creek run on one side of the ranch that has some climbs and some off camber and tight squeezes. One the other side of the place there is some more difficult stuff, which I haven't been on yet, so I don't know much except it is more difficult.

I can't access photobucket at work but I will post up some pics when I get home tonight, there are also some additional pics in the trail ride event section on JKowners if you look them up with others photos.

The place is not a hard core place to wheel or anything but it is fun and works well for rigs from stock to built, its all we have close and we enjoy going out there a couple times a year.

Ok,

Rusty's IS available and we have reserved it, so the run is a GO. So below are the details (Joe correct me if I'm wrong on anything):

$20 per rig
$125 total for the bunkhouse. The bunkhouse sleeps 10 (more can likely bring sleeping bags or cots to crash on the floor)

The cost of the bunk house will be split between the people that intend to spend the night ($125 divided by the number of people). So we need to know who is intending to spend the night so we can determine how much it will be per person. If there are not enough people intending to spend the night, we may cancel the bunkhouse to keep cost down so just a couple people won't have to carry the entire cost.

Bring what you want to eat and drink and we can grill up some food that night and hang out after the fireworks show (unless you just wanna grab a burger or something in town, up to you).

No, that's just the wheeling, i will check with Rusty to find out how much to camp, it won't be much, I can tell you that much (can't imagine its over $10, but I will check).

We are definitly trying to get our ducks in a row to make it up there for this...IF we do, we will probably get hotel room back in town, gonna check into that tonight. Hopefully we will figure out tonight or tomorrow if we can make it or not!!

PS...any of you Corpus peoples planning on trying to make it up there???
